    War on Peace

This book by Ronan Farrow was recommended on Fareed Zakaria’s program, GPS, one of my sources for a good read. Although the cover leaves something to be desired...looks a little trashy, the book is superb. Much of it is written in the form of first-person interviews and focuses on America’s shift from diplomatic solutions in dealing with contentious issues to dealing with them militarily, and, in concert with that shift, America, particularly under the Trump administration, has been gutting diplomatic/foreign services. Farrow’s book is compelling and reveals considerable personal research and first-hand interviews, particularly with former Secretaries of State. The book is written articulately, objectively, and with considerable insight from a life spent in diplomatic circles.
