  • Great stories.

Really enjoyed these stories, where all characters are developed well, which made it real easy to believe in them and wish them well, even in a full on action world.

  • Mixed Thoughts & Uncomfortable Disappointment

I really wanted to like these but there were too many themes in the series that sat ill with me. The author goes through the trouble of trying to make all her female characters strong independent women within the first chapter or two and then proceeds to put them in with a bunch of very attractive male aliens. Somehow, each of the female protagonists is willing to overlook their own incarceration/enslavement as well as the enslavement of an entire other species purely for the continuation of this male dominated (alien) society. It is very difficult to suspend disbelief when the alien culture here is so often described as deliberately misogynistic. Sure, the author wants to gloss over it by stating that this one (very small segment) of the male population might deign to treat women with something that could be mistaken for respect or fairness but the constant reminders that the rest of this alien world wishes them harm or enslavement as breeding stock is... hard to swallow. These books are definitely heavier on the erotic side of erotic fiction. I feel like this universe the author has created had great potential to be something truly interesting and thought-provoking but it has ended up glossing over the very things that should have made it deep and meaningful. It could have been a good setting to explore slavery, authoritarian government, unbalanced relationships or any number of themes. If you're looking for some steamy erotic scenes with a splash of unusual biology and willing to gloss over (or happen to enjoy) a side of uncomfortable references to dark themes, this could be your cup of tea. If anything approaching assault, slavery or implied relations with (possibly) non-sentient creatures is likely to bother you, I'd suggest a pass.

    Thanks for your feedback!
