    Thanks for your feedback!

This is a very well-written tale with good characterization. The main character in the story, Inspector Ian Rutledge, is intelligent, resourceful and patient. He has a vulnerable area from his experience as a WWI survivor which is woven throughout the story. The reader becomes involved in both the story and the life of Inspector Ian. Charles Todd is expert in keeping the ending unpredictable. This is a hard book to put down.

    A Really Great Whodunit!

Another ....."I wonder who did it" that will keep you guessing until the very end. A great read but unfortunately another ending that leaves you wanting the loose ends tied up.

    Watchers of Time

As usual this is a first rate novel. The writer is very well informed about World War 1, and the illness called shell shock, caused by trauma. The story line is always well written and twists and turns until the end. For a historical novel it is top-notch, and I would recommend it.

    Watchers of Time

Almost tediously slow in getting into the story. Had I not read and enjoyed other books in this series, I would have set this book aside. However, once Todd gets beyond endlessly describing the countryside, we are treated to an intriguing story about very interesting people.
