    Highly readable

This book like all Cornwell's workd, is highly readble. He makes clear the events leading up to the battle, and on the day. I feel he gives an unbaised view, that allows the reader to form thier on opinion of the battle.

    Overwhelming

An excellent book on one of histories great military battles. The descriptions of the battle are overwhelming the loss of so many brave men makes you realize the futility of war. We are privileged to life in a more advanced time.

    My Thoughts

The sheer merciless slaughter as soldiers marched or rode to their deaths is unimaginable today. Three days after the final battle, dead and dying still lying in the field. It may sound trite but the story of the wounded French horse, seeking companionship with English horses and then getting half its face shot off and still alive seeking comfort from its new friends shows the horror of the battle. The book waa an eye-opener to me.

    Well written and balanced account

Bernard Cornwall novels are page turners and so is his nonfiction account written for the 200 year anniversary of Waterloo. I think he does an excellent job of lifting the fog of war

    Brought to life

I have, of course, read much on this battle over the years but Mr. Cornwell is the one who has vividly brought it to life.
