    Fantastic

I LOVED this book!! Micah is a big tough alpha marine but first -always- he's a father and he will do anything to make sure his son has the very best of what he needs. His ex wife is more dedicated to her career than their son so he's on his own when it comes to caring for his son. He's torn though when he meets Kat Chandler, the principal at his son Ben's school. They are a great couple and you can't help but pull for them to make it! This is one I highly recommend.

    great start to the series

Rains delivers a wonderfully realistic look at two people whose history makes getting involved quite complicated. Micah is an amazing dad and works really hard to give his son the best life he can (and I have to say Ben is such a bright spot in an already enjoyable book – so sweet, spunky and positive, I think he was my favorite character). Kat has already suffered heartbreak once and isn’t looking to be involved with a marine ever again, but meeting such a devoted dad and stand-up guy as Micah makes it hard to resist. I loved seeing these two become friends and then more. There’s the required troubles between them but they are all handled in a believable manner and never seem to overpower the story. I can’t wait to see what Rains brings us next :) Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

    A Decent Debut

♥ ♥ ♥ This is the debut novel from this author and I thought the story had a good plot. Rains filled the story with some large issues to deal with: Single parenting, bullying, a child with cerebral palsy, grief for a dead fiancé..not to mention the few other difficulties she threw in for plot twists.. at times it felt like perhaps, if there were less things to deal with, the major issues could have been addressed more fully. Though as in life sometimes it all happens at once. Micah was a decent character, he’s a good dad to Ben and works hard to make their life the best he can give them. I found Kat likeable… at times however, she was a bit wishy-washy and for a smart woman, sometimes a bit clueless. The two had pretty good chemistry, though their feelings for each other and their situations seemed to run hot and cold from one minute to the next. The secondary characters were interesting. If there is a follow up book, I may check it out. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

    A great debut novel!

Wow. I'm still trying to come down from the emotional high this book caused me. It's taken me ages to be able to sit down and write a proper review because, if I'd written it immediately after finishing the book, it would have probably been a jumbled mess of words, exclamation marks, sighs and OMGs here and there. I don't think I've ever highlighted so many great lines (probably since reading Twilight). I honestly still find it hard to believe this is the first book by this author. It's such a great book, and the writing is so good, I couldn't believe this was a debut novel. I really can't wait for the next book to be available! This story is truly beautiful. It's been a while since a book managed to make me feel such a huge array of emotions. I smiled, I laughed, I swooned and sighed. I cried. Not the fat, ugly tears but those emotionally charged tears that reach down into your soul and squeeze, while at the same time leaving you warm and fuzzy. There is heat, yes. But even though I'm the prudish kind of reader, who likes the fade-to-black bedroom scenes better than the graphic ones, I had no problem with the scenes in this book. They are fitting to the story and to the characters, they happen at just the right point in the story and are written in just the perfect way to make them hot but not annoying. So, if you're still wondering whether or not you should give this book a chance, let me tell you something: ONE. CLICK. NOW!! ***I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review***
