Takes the reader back to 1750

If you, or anyone you know, likes historical adventure with tragedy and young love thrown in you will like “West to the Bay” which is set in 1750. The story begins in Stromness, Orkney Islands, Scotland, crosses the Atlantic Ocean, and continues in York Factory on Hudson’s Bay. Thomas Gunn searches for his older brother while learning very quickly that winters on the bay are not easy. Little Bird waits with her family for the yearly visit of her grandfather, who is master of the Hudson’s Bay Company supply ship to the post. This year she learns some very dreadful news. “West to the Bay” is a great read for young adults, teenagers, and adults.

    A compelling Historical Adventure

Ms. Donaldson Yarmey tells a well researched story of the motivation of young men leaving their homes to find fame and fortune in the new world. The hardships and trials of living through the winter in the post at Hudson's Bay makes for an exciting read. The characters are well drawn and they leap off the page. A must read.
