    A haunting and compelling read

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Pacific Northwest, the action rarely lets up when Lainey Hughes and Gage Stuart reluctantly join forces to find their missing loved ones. With the lives of Gage’s son and Lainey’s mother on the line, they must race against time with an almost impossible task of locating them—by kayak no less—on the rugged and exposed outer coastline of Vancouver Island. The close confines they’re forced to endure only heightens the tension. As time begins to run out, Ms. Tobias deftly ratchets up the tension, and it becomes almost impossible to put down. What gives this book such a unique twist is the telling of Lainey and Gage’s past lives as First Nations husband and wife, Bright Eyes and Satsokis. Both couple’s stories are equally gripping. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys solidly written and well-crafted romantic suspense along with a healthy dose of adventure.
