The Duke, a curse and a cat!

Miss Isabelle Catherine Hutting (aka Cat) Just wants some peace and quiet! She wants to a writer more than anything. Unfortunately, she can find neither peace, nor quiet in her home! Her father is the local vicar in Loves Bridge. They are very prolific, to say the least. With 10 children, it often falls to Cat, the oldest and as yet unmarried daughter to watch after them while her mother is busy. Each time Cat tries to get any writing done, something gets in the way! She has ni interest in marriage, as a husband and children would interfere in her plans and dreams. She only wants to be a spinster, in a cottage somewhere near her family, writing away. Her dreams may not be too far off. She learns that the "Spinster House" across the way has suddenly come available. And just who should happen to be in the neighborhood for the reason of reassigning that particular house to a new spinster is none other than the landlord The Duke of Hart. Marcus has lived with his family's curse from birth. One in which he didn't even know his own parents. His father died before his birth, the curse, and his mother abandoned him not long after to his Aunt and Uncle. He is in need of direction to the solicitor who handles the estate and the "curse" and Cat is available. She convinces him to give her the spinster house on the way to the office, but neither of them realize it's not that easy. This was a wonderful story of not always getting what you want, but truly getting what you need, even if you didn't realize it! The characters were full of life in some cases, and much too caught up in history in others. But it gave a great contrast to them all. Some believed in the curse and some scoffed at the silliness. The entire town knew of the situation and was a good backdrop for the main characters. The screen descriptions were wonderful as well and I loved the cat! Poppy seemed to know exactly what was up! I would give this book 5 stars! And I can't wait to read the next in the series! Heat rating of 2.5 out of 5. *I received a copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.

    4.5 Stars - Enjoyable!

4.5 Stars I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the premise of a confirmed spinster and a Duke that actually longs for a family instead of the other way around. The characters inner monologue had me cracking up often and I really enjoyed the authors writing style. My only disagreement with this book is that she leaves the ending a bit open for me, stating I must read the next book to find out about the curse... I had planned to read it anyway but I like my "Happily Ever After" in books a bit more secured at the end. ** I was given this book in exchange for an honest review **

I am so into this series.

I am so into this series. The enchanting spell of The Spinster House. The star crossed romance of it's residences and the happily ever after you pray they will be able to achieve. I received an ARC of What to Do with a Duke by Sally MacKenzie in exchange for an honest review. This story was an absolute dream. Each character brought something to the story. Isabelle's innocence and cheer lit up the page every time and her stubbornness made her a great female lead. Marcus was dashing, aloof and handsome. He was also a puzzle. Could Isabelle be the missing piece? Sally Mackenzie will cast a spell on romance readers everywhere with this series.
