4.5 stars- Absolutely loving these adventures

When I first read Where Death Meets the Devil, I was a little on the fence. I loved the action scenes and fast pacing, but it didn’t quite grab me as much as I expected- especially when it came to the romance between Jack and Ethan. Three subsequent novellas in, I’m completely enamored with these two men and itching to get more as soon as possible. When the Devil Drives is the third novella and fourth release in the Death and the Devil series. Each book builds on the last and references past interactions between Ethan and Jack, so these definitely must be read in order. This installment pulled me in immediately and scarcely let me go by the end. Once again, there’s plenty of fast-paced action included, but the real treat was the significant developments in the relationship between Ethan and Jack- no matter how much they attempt to keep their feelings for one another hidden. Miss Hayward has found a great balance of giving me just enough to keep me engrossed without feeling like I’m being led on or shorted out of the story. My only complaint was the second part of this particular adventure ended rather abruptly, though I don’t doubt the next release will make sense of that choice. If you’re a fan of high octane excitement and romantic suspense, don’t hesitate to give this series a try; and if you enjoyed the first release, Where Death Meets the Devil, even a little, do yourself a favor and grab the follow up novellas- you won’t regret it. *eARC received from author.
