5 Star review of Wicked As Seduction by Shayla Black (Trees & Laila Part 1) (Wicked & Devoted #5) by Shayla Black Having read the previous books in the series, I could not wait to read Forest “Trees” Scott’s story in Wicked as Seduction. It was everything I was expecting and so much more. From the instant he set eyes on Laila Torres Trees was attracted to her. There was something about the woman that called to his dominant soul and he wanted to protect her at all costs. Laila has survived immense horrors and still although terrified she hold her head high and refuses to give in to the darkness of her past. Frankly my heart broke for all she has had to endure since she was fourteen. I loved how all in Trees was once he realized the feelings he had for Laila were real and the tenderness and love that he showed her even with his dominance; it just melted my heart. There were times that I was on the edge of my seat as the action heated up and there are some parts which were emotional and hard to read as Tree’s job comes in to play. All in all this was a captivating read with strong writing and characters that you cannot help but become invested in. Their enemies are all around them but Trees will do all he can to keep the woman he cares for safe. The question is will it be enough? Or is the woman he loves destined to be destroyed once and for all? After the way this book ended, I cannot wait for the conclusion to their story coming in April in Wicked and Forever. Frankly it can’t come fast enough.

  • More!

Trees and Laila story starts off with a bang and keeps moving until it leaves me wanting more. Even though Laila is in danger and has gone through a lot, I love that she still has fire and can be seen when she stands up to Trees. He didn't stand a chance of not falling for her. Now I can't wait for their conclusion.

  • Hangover of emotions

This emotional story will give you a hangover. I sat up til 4am on the edge of my seat with baited breath and tears for the trauma and pain underlying this book. I waffled back and forth about bad guys, theories and emotions. In the end I am devastated that I did not realize this is a cliffhanger and now I have a major book hangover. The writing is perfection. The story is well thought out, well written and deeply embedded with all the feels. I love Trees. No other words. I love him. Laila is heartbreaking and I want so much for her to realize things so much faster, but then that is not possible. Now I just have to wait and hope the time passes quickly for the end of their story. I also need to devour the first books from this series. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Nail Biting

We pick up our story as Trees is suspected of being the mole in the organization but still he will do everything in his power to protect Laila Torres and her sister Valeria and her son Jorge from the Cartel. When he shows up to rescue her in Florida, she does not trust him because of the past problems they had run away from. Laila was violated by the members of the cartel at 14 and does not trust men. Can she trust Trees with her life and her sister's? Can Trees make her see that he is one of the good guys? As they make their journey from Florida to Louisiana, she slowly starts to trust him. However, it is one step ahead and two step back at all time and she will fight him all the way. Laila is fierce, determined and self sacrificing , together they can build something great...but will it happen? Suspenseful, nail biting story that will leave you hanging on one of the best cliffhangers I have read in a long time. I can't wait to see what's in store for Trees and Laila. I volunteered to review this story

  • Trees finally!!!

I have loved all the books connecting to this book. The characters and plot lines are always intense, all consuming, and complex and this story was no different. Trees and Laila are a couple to remember. He keeps being the great guy he is even in the face of distrust both from her and his teammates. As always i can't wait for more from this author .
