    Interesting Historical Mystery/Romance!

Temperance Dews is a widow, living and working at the Foundling Home her father started. It's located in St. Giles. But times are hard and money is tight. The Home may close without help. Lazarus Huntington, Lord Caire, is searching in St. Giles for a murderer. But he doesn't know the area or people. Can the two aid each other in their separate endeavors? Interesting dark, historical, mystery/romance! Confusing at times, with characters and storylines. Still a good story worth the read. First of a series. 3 1/2 stars. Book free for honest review.

    Wicked Intentions

Wicked Intentions got off to a bit of a rocky start. Elizabeth Hoyt has a unique (to me, at least) writing voice and it really threw me off at first. It has an old-fashioned feel that actually really fit the story quite well once I got used to the flow. Temperance was a little confusing at first. I was surprised that a woman of her social class - not nobility, but far from slums - would be willing to take Lord Caire up on his offer. While I greatly admire the reasons she does, it was so out of place for compared to the rest of her personality. I was also quite confused as to her huge (and I mean huge) repulsion when it came to matters of sex. Thankfully, this was explained very nicely late in the book, but I wish I had known sooner so I had liked her better all along the way. Lord Caire was quite a dynamic character, and he was what really kept the story going for me. He has some very interesting characteristics that made him stand out and I really wanted to see what he would do next and why. His relationship with Temperance was a great one. His search to find something to "feel" really seemed to shine through and I loved it. Temperance's family has a lot going on in the background - I imagine we'll be seeing more of them in future parts of the series. I enjoyed how their part of the story really filled out Temperance's character for me. I hope we do get to see them all again. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

4.5 Stars - Excited to read the rest of the series

Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt (Audio Edition) Narrated by Ashford McNab Maiden Lane Series #1 4.5 Stars - I loved Lord Caire. I loved how he wanted Temperance right away and yet seemed to almost push her away and pull her close at the same time. He felt the desire to shock her often. How he wanted and needed her to care for him but thought that wasn't possible. He was a wonderful Hero! Temperance was a strong lead. I liked her straightforward attitude and how she's willing to thwart convention for what she wants. I felt the sparks between these two right away and I kept reading, just waiting to watch them on the page together. I have had this book for a LONG time.. I cannot believe I haven't read it before now! Though on the plus side the Maiden Lane series has lots of books in it for me to enjoy! I am pretty sure this is the first time I have read a book by Elizabeth Hoyt, but it will certainly not be my last! The Narrator Ashford McNab. She was fantastic! Even just after this first time listening to her, I will be adding her to my favourites list!

Outstanding, intriguing, and a must read!

Exceptional and outstanding historical novel by the New York Times best selling author Elizabeth Hoyt. I loved and enjoyed reading wonderful story line, charming characters, and Wicked Intentions is one of my favorite novels by Elizabeth Hoyt. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. Temperance Dews, a widower, works with her brother at the foundling home. The foundling home is running out of money and going to be evicted. The infamous Lord Caire has a proposition for Temperance to be his guide through the slums of St. Giles in return for money and meeting some possible benefactors for the foundling home. Caire is known to have secret, unmentionable sexual desires that Temperance fights against needing and wanting. Caire and Temperance find themselves working closely together to find a murderer. Read the beautifully written, highly recommended love story of Caire and Temperance. I am looking forward to reading Silence's story.
