  • Review: The Renegades 1: Wilder

Wilder by Rebecca Yarros is the first book in her brand new Renegades series. It is a beautifully told story of finding love in the most unexpected of places with the most unexpected of people. Told in dual POV this story is well-written, perfectly paced and a complete emotional pleasure to read. Leah is the tutor that Pax chose to help him pass college this year-at-sea while simultaneously filming a documentary on his stunts around the world. Pax chose her for her academics and because she was the least likely candidate for him to screw things up with my sleeping with her. Little did he know that his little "firecracker" would knock the one of the world's greatest stunt performers directly on his ass. He not only wants her physically but he is falling for her in a way he never has for a woman before. Leah is excited to be able to take this year-at-sea trip until her best friend and roommate for the cruise comes down with mono, leaving her alone for the first trimester of school. Despite her past and her issues, she manages to make friends in the least likely of places, and despite him making her confront the worst of her fears, albeit unknowingly, she finds her closest friendship with Pax. She tries desperately not to fall for him, but he is like the sun and he smiles and shines at her and her walls melt, slowly, but they melt. I LOVED this story. I cannot wait for Landon story either! Coming soon (hopefully) Nova!

  • This book was amazing!

So I’m not going to go into a description of the book, you can read it that on goodreads, I’m just going to jump right into why this book was so awesome! So here we go…….. This book was unique. I’ve read well over 200 books in the last year, and this was by far one of the most memorable and unique of the bunch. The attention to detail, and how it was so well written kept you engrossed and wanting to read nonstop until you were finished. I was up until 3AM the night I finished it. So why was this book so unique you ask…….. It was everything. The plot, the characters, the setting. Everything set it apart from other books I have read recently. It’s not a book you will read and forget about. Also Rebecca has a very distinct writing style that draws you in and gets your attention. She makes you care about these characters and does such a fantastic job of setting up scenes you feel like you’re right there. The setting: The main thing I loved about the setting was the study abroad aspect of it. It’s set on a cruise ship called “The Athena”, and they dock at different ports as part of their study program. I’ve read study abroad books, but none like this, where there are so many places they visit, and so much detail added in about each destination they go to. It made me want to travel to Mykonos to Kalafatis beach! (Where one of my favorite scenes takes place😉 The Characters: These characters were so amazing! You have Pax, who is an adrenaline junkie, always attempting the next biggest stunt. Leah is Pax’s tutor aboard the Athena. A girl looking to break out of her shell and start living her life again. From the moment she meets Pax, she has no idea what she’s gotten herself into. The whole first scene where they met was intense, fun, and really pulls you into the book. The secondary characters were just as amazing as well. I loved all of the Renegaes, and can’t wait for more of their stories in later books! The plot: I’m not going to give anything away, I’ll just say the big reveal towards the end totally caught me off guard and I LOVED it! I really don’t think there was a single thing I didn’t like about this book. The story, characters, and all the details throughout the book were just so well written. I absolutely loved Rebecca’s Flight and Glory series, but The Renegades is a WHOLE other ball game! I think this series is going to take off, and I hope you enjoy Wilder as much as I did.

  • All the feels!

Yarros has a true talent for writing emotions and the perfect connection between her characters...You can feel it instead of just read it! It's amazing and it’s why she’s one of my favorite authors! Leah has suffered a major tragedy during her lifetime and is on a mission to take her life back and start living again. First step, spend a college year at sea with the Study at Sea program where she will tutor daredevil Paxton Wilder. I love the setting for this story…it’s original and the way Pax and Leah hit it off from the start was fantastic. He unknowingly pushes her out of her comfort zone when they first meet and Leah quickly realizes that Pax is someone that can help her to start living again. They start to form a strong friendship right away. “I don’t want to be scared anymore, Pax. Will you help me? You’re never scared.” There’s a bit of humor, quite a bit of action, suspense and a whole lot of heartwarming moments in this book. I swear that Pax can make you melt by just opening his mouth! He’s determined to make Leah his and will do anything it takes to make that happen. He’s got his work cut out for him because Leah is skittish and afraid. "Feel us. Feel what we can be like together. I do, and it’s nothing like I’ve ever known." The Renegades team is truly a family with an unbreakable bond. It makes for an amazingly well rounded story, everything just flows perfectly and this was such an awesome read. I’m anxiously awaiting more from this series!

  • Wild Ride

If I could give this book more than five stars I would! What an amazing start to a new series!! Leah Baxter is stepping out of her comfort zone to study abroad on a yearlong cruise. Her scholarship depends upon the success of her tutoring subject, Paxton Wilder, but she is determined to be successful so she and her roommate can make the most of this experience. She's hidden behind fear for too long to fail. Paxton Wilder is only interested in passing this year so that The Renegades documentary will be funded. The Renegades and chasing the next extreme adventure are his priorities. Neither Leah nor Pax can risk their chemistry getting in the way of their goals. I don't think any review can really do this story justice. It was the most unique book I've read in really long time. College on a cruise ship? This needs to be something offered in real life! This author did an amazing job connecting readers to all of the characters in the book. I felt every emotion the characters had from the very first page. I'm really looking forward to the rest of The Renegades stories!!! *I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*
