    Loved this book!

A wonderful book! I couldn't put it down! I can't wait to read the others in the series! It is a great story about a woman discovering a world of magic that she never knew existed and the man that she comes to love that introduced her to that world and the part her and her family plays in it.

Steamy fun Steampunk Fantasy with a Djinn on top!

One word of warning... cliffhanger. The fact that it ends in a cliffhanger is the only thing that I didn't like about it. Glory St. Pierre is the mouthy & f-bomb dropping young woman who just happens to find a vase that was hidden away in her deceased grandmother's basement. A vase that is not a vase, but a lamp... a lamp with a genie in it. Irving Amir is the hard ass (and hard bodied) Djinn that detests the word "genie" almost as much as he disdains humans. What happens when two hard headed and strong personalities from two different worlds collide? Sparks! Sparks that lead to the two of them having to deal with what they feel for each other and the danger that's coming for both of them. I've never read a "steampunk" themed story before, but I truly enjoyed this one. I thought it had a great story line that moved well. Yes, Glory curses a lot and drops quite a few f-bombs, but it fits her character and is a great mirror for the stuffiness Irving has at times. This story kept me hooked until the very end. The cliffhanger made me growl, but I'll be picking up the second one very soon.

I wanted to fall head over heels.....

I've been dying to get my hands on this ever since I saw it on Bookfever. Just everything screams, "Buy me, buy me!". The cover is gorgeous and that summary, I've been dying to read a genie (sorry, not sorry Irving) story for a while now as I see that's where the latest trend is going. Then it was getting amazing reviews, I just had to get it! I wanted to fall head over heels for Wish for Me and I was in the beginning, sort of. But I don't know, it just wasn't what I expected and I could easily put it down. The opening scene was awesome and hilarious but the more I got to know Glory, I don't know, she just rubbed me the wrong way sometimes with her actions. Glory is real and I love it, but sometimes she was just too much for me and it's probably cause we're so different. She's confidant and out spoken, she's very forward and these are all great qualities but why is it necessary to say "f**king" in like every single sentence you say? I'm not a prude but I'm not one that needs to cuss in everything I say but I also know people who are like that too, my husband is one of them haha. So, for me I'm torn towards Glory. She's real but I just couldn't connect to her. And then there was this one chapter where Glory thought it be cool to bring Irving to her classes, like why? I understand the first time she wanted to hang out with him, to ask him questions and what not. I mean, he's a freaking GENIE, I'd do the same thing. But why bring him to school the next day, especially if you aren't going to make a wish. I don't know, I think the author gave it a reason in the book but for me it's like, why? Especially, if you guys are only to argue. I know it sort of helped the plot move forward but yeah, still. The romance, sigh. If you love when the love interests are constantly arguing with one other then you'll love this one. Don't get me wrong, I love it and it can sweep you off your feet sometimes too. But then there's also times where it can get tiring from reading a book after another where it's like that. So, I rolled my eyes and of course by the end of it, they're in love. I know this is a common plot in a lot of the romance books, especially paranormal/fantasy ones but it's nice to get a change once in a while. I don't know, maybe I was hoping for something a little bit more original. Especially when the genie plot feels so original! Then there's a steampunk element to Wish for Me. I wasn't head over heels for this either. I think it's because I was expecting the whole thing to be wrapped up in a steampunk world but in reality Glory lives in our time and it's the genie world that's steampunk. I enjoyed it but I was wishing for more though. Oh, and one last thing before my final thoughts. "Three wishes. Two lovers. One destiny." I'm guessing this is foreshadowing to the next two books in the series because there was only one lover in Wish for Me, another expectation I had. Overall, I don't know, I'm torn. I had high expectations about Wish for Me and sadly they weren't delivered. But that ending though, it makes me crave for the next one! Though that was like the only twist I didn't see coming. I had a feeling we knew who the hunters were, saw it a mile away. I like Wish for Me but it just didn't knock me off my feet, it was kind of so-so for me.

    layers of complexity

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Wish For Me is amazing! I love the steampunk and goth element to the story, it just adds another layer of complexity to the story. Glory the heroine of the story is snarky, sarcastic and wonderfully confident. Irving our hero of the story is a Djinn and he does not want to be under the sway of Glory, at least that is what he convinces Glory of in the beginning. "Irving and I weren't so different. He'd kill for his family and I would for mine." Through many twists and turns we discover many things that were foreshadowed, but didn't make sense until they were discovered towards the end of the book. "The Djinn kind live an existence surrounded by threes. Three turns of the key. Three rules to wishes. Three wishes to be granted." And many secrets still to be revealed. Read on to find out what they are, I'm not telling, you have to find out for yourself! Let me just tell you the secrets are juicy and well worth the discovery. Enjoy!

A smokin' hot book filled with intrigue!

Imagine you are going through your grandmother’s things and find this odd-looking antique with a keyhole. Glory St. James knows the second she lays eyes on it that it is unusual. She stashes it in her bag and once home, discovers the most outrageous thing inside. A genie. More precisely, a hotter than hot djinn named Irving asking her for her three wishes. He’s annoying as much as he’s gorgeous and Glory baits him as much as possible. Not making her wishes, she wants to get to know him better. Little does she know, she’s about to enter a world she’s not ready for. Things get complicated faster than you can say wish and Glory has no choice but to go along with Irving’s plan. Steamy sex, mechanical toys and a plot to overthrow the Sultan ensue. Just when I think the book can’t get any better, it ends on a cliff hanger. ARGH! WARNING: There is a lot of swearing and cursing in this book! I loved this story and can’t wait for more from A. Star. She has a talent for creating epic stories with characters I can relate to. The world-building was right on and the story played out like a movie while I was reading. An inventive plot along with plenty of smokin’ hot sex scenes makes this one a winner! My Rating: 4 stars Favorite Character: The mechanical bat. I know what’s you’re thinking… didn’t you just love the snarkiness of Glory? I did like her but I could’ve done without the constant swearing. Every other word out of her mouth was cursing. I loved how adorable the mechanical bat was and how it brought both Glory and Irving together.
