    Within These Walls

The characters were refreshingly sweet but the overall storyline was very predictable and it it increasingly felt like the author had just one thing on her mind.

Nothing happens. MC in the hospital

In chapter one we learn that Lialah has a heart condition. She’s admitted in the hospital, and that’s where she meets Jude.  — “It was also slowly killing me, which was why I couldn’t wait to break free of this prison. When you were living your life on borrowed time, every second you had to spend watching the days pass by thro…” -- The main issue I had with this book is, the Hero. It made it practically impossible to connect to Jude and Lialah because Jude lusted over his dead ex-girlfriend. He blamed himself for her death, and the reason behind it was ludicrous.  — “No, not Lailah. Always Megan. Always.”  Also, nothing happens. I wanted to like this book because the writing is great; it is the best writing I came across in a while. Plus, it flowed well. Except it was too dull, and I couldn’t. The heroine is in the hospital from the beginning; therefore, nothing takes place. You have Jude visiting Lialah, and they hold conversations to get to know each other. I stopped reading at chapter 17. I couldn’t push forward anymore.  -- The spice level is extremely low, which I guess would be expected since the heroine has a heart condition. But, I couldn’t escape into this, and I got tired of reading Jude talking about his love for his ex. While in the meantime, the story wasn’t going anywhere. I couldn’t finish this book, so I will not be continuing to the next.  -- This is one reason as to why I always say less is better. It felt too drawn out. Build up is cool to connect you to the characters, but when you reach chapter 17, I need more than hospital visits and conversations to keep me wanting to read. If it picks up closer to the end, it wouldn’t matter because I’m assuming they separate since there is a part 2. --- Maybe if it were one book, and it wasn’t dragged out into two books I could have enjoyed it. --- I’m only giving three stars because although I hadn’t liked the fact the story wasn’t going anywhere and the things I had mentioned above. The authors writing is good.
