    Loved Maxima!

I really liked Maxima when she was introduced in Mrs. Anderson’s Ashes to Ashes series. I’m so glad she got her own story. Although Maxima makes an appearance in that series you don’t have to read it to enjoy this. Max is a strong, sweet, caring and broken woman. She has known a lot of heartache and pain in her life. Cast out at young age because she was different from everyone else Maxima is accustomed to being alone. Not having anyone there to love, guide or protect her hasn’t harden Maxima or kept her down though. She forged ahead learning as she went. Maxima is courageous in the face of danger even when there’s a possibility that she might not make it out of a situation alive. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out. I’m eager to find out what’s going to happen next in Maxima’s story.

    Not a standalone novel

The character and setting have potential, but unless you have read the series this is a spin off from (which I haven't) don't bother picking up this one because the author presumes _so_ much as known the story just falls apart. The structure of the novel isn't amazing either, extremely rushed with no emotional impact. It has potential, but never fulfills it.

    nothin is predictable

The first book in a series about a witch who is banned by her own people at the age of 14 and must find out for herself what her powers are. In the 400 years she has been in the world she has always tried to help people, even though that often meant her death ....... from which she returned to the world of the living. Together with Striker, she tries to help a pregnant woman who is terrorized and abused by her boyfriend. Then the friend turns out not to be a human but a demon with all the misery that comes with it. With her strength and help from others, she finally manages to get rid of the demon ...... but at what price? A beautifully designed and fluently written book with a lot of action but also room for a look at the characters that can be found in parts 2 and 3 I recommend everyone to read these books if you like the paranormal world with all its special creatures, if you like tension and like to be misled. Nothing is predictable in this story
