  • Incredible Redemptive m/m Romance

Sometimes I just wish I had an extra star button to push in cases like this when a book just hits you so hard because it is so great. This is a real redemptive romance with two men who are wounded in different ways coming together to help each other. Susan Mac Nicol has obviously done a terrific amount of research both to create an amazing setting for this story and to understand all of the characters, both good and bad, and the motivations behind the ways they behave. There are very dark parts to this story as she delves into some of the most awful things that humans do but there is also the light that people can bring to each other and the redemptive power of love in its many forms. It seems funny to put an emphasis on this but the pacing of this book is amazing. When you are writing a book about such a heavy topic it is a real challenge to balance all the sad/happy/heavy/ laughable/bad/good parts and Ms. Mac Nicol does a spectacular job. From the world building, the pacing, the characters and even the atmospheric weather this story is pitch perfect. If you think you can handle the bad parts this has to be one of the best books that I have read this year. I recommend this book highly. • great.

good book with high's and low's. It's about surviving abuse and how one person deals with it. After saving Owen they both try to save each other . The power of love and giving trust, that's what its all about. When you let someone in and try to heal its a journey worth taking. Have the hankies handy. I could not put this book down. Worth the 5*s

  • Worth Keeping

A truly wonderful story. The characters were also wonderful. The story just reaches inside you and pulls you in and wraps around you and does not let go until the very last word. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

  • Love overcoming child and adult sexual abuse

Susan takes on the horrible subject of childhood sexual abuse, adult sexual abuse, and sadism. The three main characters are believable. Nick and Owen on the good side, and Brad on the evil. While the book is a romance, it is also a thriller and a crime novel. I really enjoyed watching how Owen and Nick dance around each other's physical and emotional scars to try to heal each other. The ups and downs as they react to their triggers make the story credible. I would like to have seen some background and development of Brad, the villain - what turned him so evil?
