High on suspense, with perfect twist in the end

If you are like me- a reader who likes short stories to not just start well but end with a perfect twist in the end-I recommend this book highly. What has impressed me is that the writer has succeeded in making each story different from the rest- the plots and the storytelling techniques require a lot of imagination & skill. While I enjoyed stories like Wreath, Red Moon, The Wait, Tick Tock & Deja Vu for their vivid descriptions and storylines, after a long time I have come across stories like Captive, Snapshot & Artistic Spirit that challenges the readers with their clever conclusions. Malevolent is another favourite- it has created a new standard of psychological sci-fi. I would highly recommend this collection of short stories for an extremely entertaining and fulfilling reading experience.

Sometimes macabre, sometimes poignant but always brilliant

I remember a time when the only entertainment we had was getting books from our local library. There I discovered the thrilling works of Poe, Dahl and Thurber. This book brought back the same flavour and feel of those books with its inventive stories and beautiful language. The reader is transported to the strange world of intrigue, paranoia, malevolence and sometimes poignancy created by the writer. Then there is a surprising undercurrent of humour in some stories. I am not a critic but as a reader I enjoyed this book thoroughly. Suman Banerjee.
