  • A well written and gripping novel.

This is a wonderful novel about a woman who must protect her child, and reinvent herself after a traumatic event affects her family.

  • Good Story - Not Great

I enjoyed this book. The main character was described and developed very well. The story got very interesting very quickly. I felt that the ending was a little too abrupt.

  • Boring!

What a slow moving, and boring book. The author rambles on so, I found I was skipping pages. The ending is totally unsatisfying. I see why the TV series is so different. It had to, be so it wouldn’t be as boring.

  • Good writing but...

The only reason I picked this book was because I was very impressed by the TV adaptation (The Undoing, with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant). I thought that it was well produced, well cast and well directed, and of course, the screen play was well done. Now, if I hadn’t seen the movie I would have missed this book. And to be sincere, I “should have known” from the beginning that this wasn’t going to work for me. I think 160 pages would have been long enough. Why 3 stars? Because the writing is good. There are some excellent thought provoking statements. This book is written in 3rd person but it felt as if it was written in first (is that a good skill or confusing? I have always preferred 3rd person). The storyline, although good, drags for too long. There are so many shallow moments or shallow descriptions that you just want to skim through. The main character, who is supposed to be extremely smart, sounds so stupid, so oblivious of everything around her, so superficial (it’s hard to feel any sympathy for her) and ironically writes a book telling other women how to recognize the signs that the husband (or potential husbands) may have some kind of personality disorder. It really felt a bit unreal. I think that I would have enjoyed it more if there was another POV. Anyways, watch the adaptation. Forget about this book.

  • The Undoing

This book started off great but got bogged down a bit in the middle. Interesting storyline that made sense even if the main character had difficulty with it being too close emotionally to the situation.
