First half was great - ending fell flat

Well, I didn't know what to expect out of this book. It was the first Megan Abbott book I have read. The first half of the book was thrilling, I couldn't stop reading. We were't given a lot of clues in the beginning of the story, but somehow Abbott keeps our attention. There is so much going on with the disfunction in the Knox family and we watch as it spreads throughout their extended relationships including Teddy and the gym, Hailey, Gwen and the other gym families. While it was a good read and explores lots of issues the ending really fell flat for me.

    Didn't see the tiwist coming

The story kept me interested and I didn't figure out "who did it" until just before the reveal. There are lots of clues throughout looking back and never struggled to get through any chapters. Also made me want to try gymnastics. I mean I'm not going to - but I say that's a pretty good benchmark for a good book if it gets you that involved you want to try the things the characters are doing. Mind you, that stops at the Gymnastics, not cutting down and burning a tree on my yard! I would read another Megan Abbott book, this was the first of hers that I've read.

    intense read

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. This book was very well done, a quick, powerful read and quite intense. I really was clueless as to how the whole story would come together until the very end! I highly recommend!

    You will know me

Could not put this book down. As a former gymnast, I loved the gymnastics aspect. This is a true whodunit that will shock you until the end.
