    Holding Out

I simply adored Holding Out. It was sweet and sexy. I especially loved the way the things started between Griff and Becca and how their relationship progressed. I also loved their journeys individually and collectively. I definitely recommend this book and series.

    Well done

This is a hard one for me to review. While I have loved all the prior books in this series this story just wasn't for me. While I personally didn't care for the story I do think it will appeal to others. So my rating of this book is based on the writing and story structure. It is very well written with an easy pace to the story. The characters, specifically Becca and Griffin, are interesting and developed nicely. Their story is full of emotion. Overall I would recommend this book.

    Sexy

This is book #4, in the Returning Home series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order. Griff finds himself attracted to the most off limits woman. She is the little sister of his friend. He also does not do commitment. Best to avoid her for now. If only she wasn't so attractive...... Becca has a thing for Griff. If he could help her with her predicament, things would be so much better for her. She just needs someone she trusts for a one and done. As long as nobody starts to have feelings for the other..... This was a great story. I loved the banter. These characters so obviously should be together. The pace was good, the heat was such a good build, and goes great with the series. ***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

    Sweet, sexy, fun and funny!

First rule of Operation V-Card is, there is no Operation V-Card... I absolutely loved Holding Out! Griff and Becca's story was just wonderful. It was sexy, funny, and fun--with a refreshing lack of BS (beyond the traditional "we're just going to do a one and done and move on like nothing happened" that a premise like this demands--but let me tell you, when the delusional "one and done" is as good as this one is, I am here for it). They did attempt to hide their "Surprise! Even a 'three and free' isn't enough!" sexcapades from their friends, but that lasted about a hot minute (with a painfully funny and awkward moment) and that too was a big ol' checkmark in the plus column of this book. Even when the relationship's black moment comes--and boy, does it come--the way Becca and Griff each reacted to it meshed up perfectly with their characters. They both had a part to play in the disaster, and they both had realizations to come to and reparations to make. It's more of a mutual confession and declaration that gets them back together than a grovel--and it was perfect. Since Griff and Becca are both invested in the R&R community, past series characters are throughout the book. If you haven't read their stories yet, it's not a problem--this book works fine as a standalone. I'm going to bet, though, that you'll enjoy them all so much you'll want to go back and read all the rest of the books in the series--you have been warned! Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A sweet, sexy ending to a great series

The fourth book in this series features Becca, the younger sister of Alia, the heroine of book 2, Can't Hold Back. In that book, Alia introduced Nate, the hero, to Becca rather than dating him herself because she'd always taken care of Becca and wanted her to have a good man. That didn't work out too well for anyone, and Alia and Nate finally ended up together. From the glimpses we got of Becca in that book, I was looking forward to her story as she came off as a level-headed young woman who'd been sheltered by her older sister due to a learning disability, but who was taking charge of her own life and trying to work through her own lack of confidence. It's absolutely not necessary, though, to have read that book (or any of the others in the series) to greatly enjoy this one. As the book opens, Becca, who lives in Seattle, has just found out that she's losing her job as a receptionist at a day spa, so she's come to the Oregon coast to visit Alia and figure out what to do next. She also has another problem, which is that she's 24 yrs old and still a virgin for various reasons, and it's now becoming a problem in her dating life since the guys she's meeting either don't want to sleep with her because of it, or have a fetish about it. Poor Becca can't figure out which is worse, but she does know that she just wants it gone! At Alia's, she once again connects with Griff, a good friend of her sister and brother-in-law's. The two have always been powerfully attracted to each, but Griff, a veteran, is still hung up on his ex-wife, who walked out on him while he was on a tour of duty. Griff has closed himself off to love and limited himself to one-night stands ever since his ex left. Because of the attraction between them, and knowing that he's an all-around good guy, Becca proposes to Griff that he do her the favor of taking care of her pesky virginity with the understanding that it will be a "one and done" deal. Of course, they are both lying to themselves and there's no going back once they become intimate. This was a lovely story, fairly low angst, although with plenty of strong emotions and two engaging, likable lead characters who were easy to root for and whom I thought were very well-matched. Both Griff and Becca had some emotional roadblocks to work through but I love that they approached things as adults and were both striving to grow, although at least initially, Becca was more in touch with her needs than Griff was. I think that Serena Bell excels in depicting characters who are on an emotional journey to move forward and get past trauma that has happened to them in the past. This was a great end to a wonderful series. I received an ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed this book.
