    Nate and Anne

This was Nate "Ghost's" story with Anne. He faces racial slurs while Anne tries to get the best story possible as a organization filming family journalist. This story had some repetitive gestures in it that was over done. Everyone was always winking at each other. I thought they might have all developed ticks. Although that didn't distract from the story line, plot, characters, or steamy romance. It did bother a bit to read that same line all the time.

This book mimics our current reality

I have loved every book in this series but I love how much this book mimics our current reality. Nate and Anne have a flirtatious relationship that begins innocently as just hockey player and journalist. During the filming of Eye of the Storm and the issues they are both facing they begin to fall for one another. This book touches on many current events and problems that exist in todays society such as racism, gender equality, social media bullying, and personal body issues. Many people will be able to relate to the social issues in this book and the hockey storyline and attractive men are a bonus. Loved this book.

    A timely sports romance

*I received an ARC in exchange for posting my honest review* The first chapter absolutely gripped me. Catherine Gayle is so good at highlighting the emotions her characters struggle with and the reader can feel it run through them. This is such a timely romance in which the characters face outside criticism, racism, sexism, homophobia, and physical pain. The negative circumstances contrast beautifully with the support, friendship, and love the characters also experience. That said, with all the outside stressors the couple got lost a little at first for me. I was immediately hooked, but slow to keep reading (well slow, compared to the way I typically devour this author's books). I wanted to feel a stronger love connection between them, or more compelled to see them come together. I was more interested in their individual stories than their journey as a couple. However, in the second half, things begin happening rapid fire. Emotions are high, and the challenges perfectly highlight the relationships among friends, family, teammates, and especially the burgeoning love between Nate and Anne. I really liked how Anne's career gave us intimate glimpses into the other couples and families in the Storm family. Of course, the reader also gets introduced to new characters and storylines. Finally, I'm once again in awe of the seamless way this author provides in depth hockey information and game scenes for fans of the sport, while not losing sight of the underlying personal and romance stories that appeal to a wide range of readers. This series is great, and each story is markedly different than the next to keep me coming back for more.

    This book hits home.

This book hits home. Hot button, relevant issues in today's world are addressed in Catherine Gayle's latest book. What's different about her take on these issues is that beyond noting that these events happen, in the real world and in the world of the Portland Storm, Gayle explains how these types of events impact individual lives. She doesn't just acknowledge issues, she explores how they affect team, family, and romantic relationships. What I loved more than anything, though, is the way that the book is set up. With reporter Anne producing a web series about the Portland Storm, readers are caught up on all of the Portland Storm characters they know and love while also watching Anne grow professionally and personally as she handles her conflicting emotions about falling in love with Nate Ghost, a player on the team. This isn't just a love story. It's a coming-into-your-own story, and it reflects the current atmosphere of the real world more than maybe any other romance I've ever read.

    Diversity, Friendship and Love

Intense read! Many topics covered that are considered off limits by society. Situation brought into play and discussed and lived that is currently affecting our nation. These two characters must face these issues. Will they face them together or choose to face them apart. Ghost has to face racism for the first time in his life. Anne being a mixed race female trying to make it in a mans world. Add in bigots, racist, sexiest , and ignorance mix it will a little alcohol and adrenaline makes for an interesting lesson. Get ready to get mad and ready to grab the tissue. Situations will be brought to light that we may not often think about unless we have had to face them ourselves. Great book to read. Catherine did well with this one.
