The perfect sequel to her debut

Paula Brackston’s sequel to her debut The Witches Daughter is a fast-paced journey back into her extraordinary mystical magical world filled with witches, warlocks and other supernatural beings. Her two star witches were amazing and all her incredible co-stars give the read a depth that would be impossible without them. The vistas are picturesque and period perfect delivered through her articulate, eloquent narrative. The time travel element was fascinatingly unique and the explosive ending the perfect finale .The Return of the Witch stands well on its own, but to enjoy the entire story read The Witch’s Daughter too. Five years ago Elizabeth and the young witch she’d been fostering and had come to think of as her daughter, Tegan dispatched their mortal enemy, a powerful warlock named Gideon to an inescapable prison. With the threat gone Elizabeth knew it was time to leave Tegan and the mortal realm to spend eternity in The Summerlands. Now somehow Gideon has escaped and Elizabeth knows he’ll head straight for Tegan so she must go back to the wilds of Wales and protect her. Only when she arrives it’s not the same inexperienced, and insecure girl she left but a powerful witch in her own right and a formidable friend. When Gideon kidnaps Tegan and escapes with her to the past Elizabeth hopes she finds them in time to destroy him for once and all and prays that Tegan has learned enough to keep her alive until she reaches her.

The Future, the Now and Again

Coming of age for Tegan. Enjoyable and easy read told from her perspective and that of her mentor Elizabeth. Enjoyed the travel experience and overview of the times as they played into the fabric of this story,

    Riveting and magical

Riveting and magical is this historical time step sequel to the Witches Daughter.Riveting and magical is this historical time step sequel to the Witches Daughter. Once again Elizabeth and Tegan are pitted against powerful nemesis Gideon who is even more powerful this time and his purpose darker. With a new cast of supporting characters, time travel and sorcery, Paula Brackston's The Return of the Witch is as enthralling and imaginative as the first book, perhaps even better. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

    Second book in series!

The Return of the Witch by Paula Brackston is the sequel to The Witch’s Daughter. Gideon Masters is free after five years. Elizabeth Anne Hawksmith knows that he will immediately come after Teagan, apprentice Hedge Witch. Gideon is stronger than ever thanks to some help. Despite their fortifications, Teagan is taken. Elizabeth will do whatever she must to get her back. After doing some investigating, Elizabeth finds out that Gideon has taken Teagan back in time. Elizabeth enlists the help of a Time Stepper to go back in time and rescue Teagan from the ruthless Gideon. Will her journey be successful? In order to understand and enjoy The Return of the Witch, you do need to return The Witch’s Daughter (otherwise you will be lost). I have to admit that I had a very hard time reading Return of the Witch. I found it extremely slow paced (and boring). The writing is stilted and awkward to read (lacks a good flow). I was never able to get into the story and enjoy it. There is a lot of detail (about items outside the cottage, the cottage, people, etc.) which bogged down the story. Also, the book is told from alternating points of view (first Elizabeth, then Teagan, etc.). I give The Return of the Witch 3 out of 5 stars. This book was just not my style. I wanted to like it (because I really like books with witches and magic in them). Books are like people. They are each unique and appeal to different individuals. I received a complimentary copy of The Return of the Witch from NetGalley in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.

    Amazing

I loved that Elizabeth was able to reunite with Tegan... And also partial to trilogies. I really enjoy the author's style of writing; how she is able to one minute be in the present and the next 100's of years ago.
