Great choice for .NET Core beginners

Unvaluable guide to learn how to use ASP.NET Core and Angular 2 together and bring them both to their full extent. I managed to get the sample application working on VS2015 following the various code samples within few hours, even though I failed once or twice in the process... Highly recommended overall.

Great resource to understand the new stuff

The big deal of ASP.NET Core MVC is the fact that it aggregates the MVC framework and Web API 2, two complementary ribs of web development born in different times to suit different web development techniques (Web Applications and SPA) into a single, efficient and modular framework. The book does a good job explaining what they did change either above and under the hood, allowing the developer to cope with the differences using a lot code samples that will allow the reader to build a simple SPA featuring a Data Provider (using Entity Framework Core code-first), HTML layout (styled using Bootstrap and LESS) and an internal authentication mechanism which also supports the most common OAuth2 providers such as Google, Facebook and Twitter. A lot of space is also dedicated to the new Angular 2 framework, which is also a full rewrite of the former AngularJS featuring a true modular approach and a ton of useful features. It turned out to be a very interesting reading overall, not only to learn the new ASP.NET Core and Angular 2 framework yet also to understand the actual scenario, i.e. how web development changed within the last few years.

Excellent Book to Learn Angular 2 for ASP.NET Devs

I had the opportunity to be a part of this book as technical reviewer. The book is composed of 10 Chapters (452 pages), and generally covers the two new hot frameworks in the market nowadays: ASP.NET Core and Angular 2. Valerio did a great job on connecting both frameworks by providing a real-world practical example, starting from setting up your environment, creating the project from scratch, creating a Web API, handling server-side and client-side routes, making use of the new angular 2 features, creating a data model and persisting them across request and response, styling your pages with bootstrap, handling different types of authentication and authorization, and finally down to deployment. The examples demonstrated in each chapters are very well presented and coupled it with in-depth explanation makes this book very easy for starters to follow. Great job on that! This book isn’t just something that talks about building an app and deploying them. This book also talks about the different approaches that you may want to consider based on your needs. This is something that most technical books don’t have. Overall, I had fun and enjoyed the book. I personally learned a lot of things after reviewing the book. If you want to jump on Angular 2 within the context of ASP.NET Core and get your hands dirty with real-world example, then I would really recommend you to grab yourself a copy now.
