    Favourite horror from early teens/20's

IT... if you haven't read this yet you are in for a treat. A group of childhood friends return to their hometown for a funeral and begin to remember one summer adventures were to be had every day, when life was wonderful and shiny and bright ... and something evil was stalking the town of Derry and it's people. I have always felt that Stephen King is a master storyteller, but more than that he is an outstanding observer of human nature. IT brings back childhood delights and terrors, bittersweet memories of growing up and growing away, sunny days, fun-filled evenings, innocence and the discovery that life is sometimes cruel and hard. It's a delight. Pun intended... (I think)

Revisiting It before the big screen release!

I've always been scared of clowns for as long as I can remember, long before I first read this book for the first time, long before I saw the book turned into the mini-series starring Tim Curry and that bloke from The Waltons! Pennywise has been the stuff of my nightmares for years but this book reminds me that many nightmares in this life are made worse when your fears are preyed upon, but this book also teaches you there's a way to overcome those fears and triumph. So why am I, now a grown woman, reading a book that revolves around childhood fears like the obvious fear of clowns? Because it's a good book, because I like to face my fears, because we have to test ourselves and our fears sometimes, and as scary as the book (and Pennwise) can be, you can always close the book and walk away, or stay, keep reading and find your way through it! It's only a book, but there's a reason Stephen King is one of the greatest storytellers in the world, he's facing his fears with us and he finds a way to overcome the fears and move forward. With the upcoming big screen version of It coming soon (September 2017) it will be interesting to see this book brought to life again...and yeah, I might hide behind my hands or feel my heart beat faster, but I can't wait to see the end result!

One of the best books youll ever read.

The only thing I would implore if any potential first time reader of It, is to PLEASE PLEASE do not go and watch the movie/mini series first. You'll spoil it for yourself. I read this when I was 14 (now 45) and it still stands out in my mind in my Top 5 of all books I've ever read which is probably around 2000. Trust me -treat yourself, read it first, and then hire the film. :)

    Its ok

Pretty good, satisfying ending but alot of cringe-worthy parts. I found the part in the sewers towards the end particularly odd. Theres also alot of pointless fluff which I struggled to read through. Made it in the end though.
