    Loving the Wounded Warrior

This was a very emotion read about a vet who was struggling with the death of friend. Kurt was walking in his friend's memory when O'Neal saw him. O'Neal is a reporter who was writing a story about turkeys for thanksgiving when she passed Kurt walking up the mountain pushing an empty wheelchair. When she almost hit him, she pulled over and he stopped to see if she was ok, O'Neal thought he looked familiar, but she couldn't place him. Later when she sees him again, she realizes he is her brother's friend from high school. O'Neal always had a crush on Kurt, but he was older and then he went away to college. O'Neal wants to know his story so she follows him. When he tells her a little about his life now, O'Neal starts to feel something for him. Kurt was the subject of an article O'Neal wrote in school that changed things for him and when he learns she didn't do it on purpose, he forgives her and she decides to camp with him. They have a connection and chemistry. They both start to feel things and soon they open emotional wounds and help each other. I liked this book, I thought it was sad and heartbreaking in parts. I loved how they healed each other and both wanted to be with the other. Good one.

    Wonderfully Written, Emotional Story

I couldn't put this book down. It was very well written and as much as it was steamy and sexy in places, it was also gritty, emotional and honest about PTSD. O'Neal might be able to get Kurt on the right path towards helping him recover, but there was no instant fix, no magical cure just because now he was with a woman. That was an excellent way to go in my opinion and made the story all that much better. This was a very good read, a complete novella that stands alone despite being part of a series. Recommended to romance readers, especially those who like flawed characters and fans of military romance. I received a copy from Booksprout, it's my pleasure to leave a review.

    4stars

I got all the feels reading this book. I so love a man in uniform. I am so happy that Kurt had O’Neal in his life and that he over cams his reservations about love and went for love.

    A novella with a punch!

The last thing O’Neal expected to see as she came down off the mountain was a lone man pushing an empty wheel chair up the mountain. After a near miss of a wreck brings her face to face with her adolescent crush she just knows this is the story of a lifetime. The one thing she’s been looking for her whole career. Kurt has been on a mission. A mission to right the wrongs of his past but of which there is no absolution and no answers at the end of the journey. When the young spunky girl of his past won’t leave him alone, he finds himself inviting to stay at his camp for the night. This is all kinds of wrong but he can’t seem to let her go. Despite this being a novella, it had a lot of heart and angst and power within it. Offering up an important message it shines a light on what’s so wrong with the system when it comes to our country’s vets. My heart hurt for Kurt and his total sense of loneliness and loss. O’Neal was a tough heroine but Kurt touched something soft in her and she allowed herself to open up to him. Obviously this is fast paced but very well developed for its length. There is no time lost on secondary characters and the steam was flaming. I would have enjoyed a little epilogue at the end to have made this a perfect short read. The resolution was well rounded and satisfying and I was so happy to see Kurt find his purpose. Overall, this is a very enjoyable read, deeper than most novellas and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a broken hero.
