    Fun read

NetGalley provided a copy of the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Christi Barth’s contemporary romance Risking It All is a charming read. Chloe and Griffin meet at a coffee shop that Chloe sometimes uses as her office. The chemistry is evident from the first exchange and their journey is a slow burn but well worth the outcome. Chloe works as a letter writer. A most unusual career but it certainly fits her personality. Griffin is a reluctant hero and a natural helper. He has a strong circle of supportive male friends. He and his friends have a successful blog known as Naked Men. The author cleverly weaves background information into this quick paced story. Their family dynamics and friendships add an interesting layer to Risking It All and gives insight into their individual personalities. Chloe and Griffin are truly likeable characters. Their voices are strong and distinct. The author’s use of humour in sharing their journey is refreshing. This character driven story is perfect for a lazy afternoon read. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

    Excellent

I really enjoyed this one and can't wait to read more stories involving the Naked Men!! I enjoyed both the H/h and the only reason it wasn't a five star read for me was I found the h a little meek. Griffin had a moment of real jerkiness which made my lip curl but I'm glad I kept reading and found that he realized what a jerk he was and made up for it! After that I thought he was adorable. Chloe lives a very safe life and doesn't like taking any kind of risk. Since Griffin's very core is a risk taker this makes for a very interesting couple. This relationship was a slow build and one I enjoyed very much. This is definitely a book I highly recommend.

    sexy & fun Naked Men

We’ve seen Barth’s books before (here) and I’m super excited to start her new series. I’m going to say now that this review has a kinda spoiler in it so if you don’t want to know anything more stop now :) I’m usually curious about what others are saying about a book I’m reviewing (just to see what they liked, didn’t like or noticed that I didn’t). And I was super surprised at how many people didn’t like Griffin. To me he was a pretty typical guy’s guy – take charge, physical, testosterone fueled, that kinda thing :) But quite a few people flipped at how he reacts when he finds out that Chloe is a virgin. I’m not sure what it says about me but I’m not surprised or offended that a guy who isn’t thinking long-term commitment with a woman at that point would have a problem with being her first. He’s concerned that she’d have a more emotional connection to sex than maybe what their relationship is ready for and it isn’t a new idea that most women have trouble keeping their heart out of the bedroom without that. It doesn’t take him very long to get over it but I can definitely understand why he has a knee-jerk “oh-hell-no” reaction. I think this is just going to be something that each reader has to decide whether it works for them. I found the two of them to be quite realistic in their actions and reactions. They aren’t perfect and both have hang-ups from horrible things that happened in their past. But it also gives them a special understanding of each other that helps create the basis of a great relationship. And, one of my favorite things, they have great communication – that’s the one thing that will drive me nuts, when the characters don’t talk to each other and therefore do stupid things. There is drama – over her virginity, his need to save everyone and her aversion to taking any kind of risk. While they may not have typical issues, they handle them without a whole lot of melodrama – any time I thought that something was going to come back and bite them, they actually worked through it in a way that was very believable. My only complaint is that we don’t get enough of the relationship between the guys. The interactions that we do get are so entertaining and show the closeness that has developed between such different guys that I really wanted more … and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series for that alone. Plus, Barth does such a good job of giving us tidbits and little glimpses of the other guys that I really want to get to know them better. So I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on these guys – I’m seriously looking forward to them meeting their matches (especially Knox :) ). Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review

A Good Start to A New Series

This is the first book I’ve read by Christi Barth. I love the premise for her Naked Men series: High school soccer teammates who faced tragedy together forge an even stronger bond with each other. They create a blog, Naked Men, and decide to talk out their problems online and share them with other men. This book is about Griffin Montgomery and Chloe Widmore The book starts with a Prologue, 10 years in the past, which tells you about the tragedy that Griff and his teammates experienced. Chloe and Griff meet at a coffee shop that she uses as an office where she writes letters – for other people; she is a professional letter writer. He’s the hottest guy she’s ever seen and is surprised when he comes over to talk to her. Griff is a reluctant hero. He recently made a successful, daring rescue just doing his job as a Coast Guard helicopter pilot. When everyone in the coffee shop but Chloe applauds him, his is intrigued and goes over to talk to her. Thus begins their relationship. I enjoyed this book very much. The dialogue is witty and flows well. I want to meet Chloe and Griff – especially Griff. OMG – the letter that Griff writes to Chloe late in the book! I can’t quote it because I read an unproofed, advanced copy, but take my word for it Griff is the kind of guy most any woman would love to meet and fall for. Both Griff and Chloe have things to overcome before they get their HEA but every word made this an enjoyable journey for me to take with them. Ms. Barth does an excellent job of giving readers just enough information about Griff’s teammates to whet our appetites. I definitely want to read their stories but this one stands alone with no problem. *****Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions***** I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

    great story

Griff is one hot complicated alpha male. He sees what he wants and goes for it. Until he over thinks things. Then he's not sure what to do. He is always thinkng of other people. So glad his best friends make him see what he needs to do. Chloe is one strong woman. She has a lot of personal baggage. She is drawn to Griff. She's not sure why Griff attracted to her. But she is willing to lay it all on the line and see where things go. Loved this story. Can't wait to read more. Received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review
