    Wonderful

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋💋 I’ve loved every book in this series , but this one I think will always have a special place . Nick is the Duke Of Ice , so called because of his demeanour, he’s moody , and not open to socialising in the least , seemingly the opposite to his best friend Simon the Duke Of Ruin a nickname picked up from the fact that society suspects him of his wife’s murder. At a house party thrown by her friend ,Violet meets an old flame eight years on ,all Nick remembers is that she left him one night and was married to a Viscount soon after . A marriage she had no control over and never wanted . How can they reconcile their differences, if that’s even possible, Nick can’t stand to loose her again . But will her take a chance on love a second time ? A wonderful and moving story that I think is the best so far in the Duke series , looking forward to the next I received a copy of this book and chose to submit a review

    A Second Chance Wonder

This is another good book in d series THE UNTOUCHABLES...i ve always liked Darcy's books ...her writing & presenting a story is unique in itself ...even if u feel d story is repetitive , Darcy, enchants u with her penmanship... This is a touching second chance story... This is the story of Nicholas Bateman and Violet Caulfield Pendleton., who had met 8 years ago and fell in love. However, Violet's parents objected to the union because Nick was not a titled man. Violet is married off to Lord Pendelton, a horrible man. they meet again after 8 yrs where both there circumstances ve changed...Nick has come into a title & Violet has become a widow... From here d 2nd chapter in there life starts... Nick having faced lots of losses in his life has turned into a bitter ,self-sympathetic ,lonely ,depressed recluse...he blames allhis bad luck on Violet... here i couldnt digest dat The Hero of d book was so weak & pathetic..but still Darcy by her excellent understanding justifies his character &also as usual her women characters r always strong which i like very much... A story that covers the full range of emotions, from laughter to tears.Darcy Burke has written this beautifully, depicting how various characters deal with their life's knocks in different manners to numb their pain. i liked d character of Simon the Duke of Romney aka the Duke of Ruin, & look fwd to read his story...Even the secondary characters are splendid & r so well placed in d story dat d story would be incomplete without them... once again i m very impressed with Darcy ...she has not disappointed & has come up with a winner again... I Recd a ARC copy of dis book from d author ,this is my voluntary & honest Review ...

    Historical Romance

The Duke of Ice by Darcy Burke The Untouchables #7 Young love thwarted Second chance given Will it be taken or squandered? Eight years before this book begins Nick and Violet met and fell in love. With his prospects only being a mister without a title, well, Violet’s parents whisked her away to marry another – and she let them. So, when the two meet at the house party they do know one another but neither is the young, hopeful, easy person they once were. There is attraction. There is conversation and there is a kiss or two shared BUT will there be more? Nick went to war, lost many of his loved ones and feels “cursed” and unwilling to love again. He is not as easy to approach or as spontaneous or smiling but is his old warm self really gone forever encased in the icy exterior he presents to the world? His friend Simon, Duke of Romsey (or Ruin as some call him) has not given up on him and as a result the two are off to a house party together. Violet had an unhappy marriage to a man that did not love her and in more than one way abused her. She was happy to be rid of him though unhappy he had to die in order for her to be free. When she sees Nick the feelings of love she never surrendered are reignited and Simon encourages her to try to break through the ice surrounding the man she has continued to love. The house party has games, events, conversations; young girls on the marriage market, older women that are “mean girls” and the potential for all to get to know one another. The hostess is hopeful that she will be able to provide ‘the’ event that will elevate her social status. The young women and their parents hope for introductions to men that might be suitors of a suitable sort. Nick hopes that rumors about Simon can be squelched and is willing to be there for his friend…just as Simon is there for Nick. After the house party there is a sense of…well…an unsettled sense for both Nick and Violet. Nick is beginning to thaw but has not thawed enough by the end of the party. The two meet again and things improve…until a wrench or two are thrown into the mix and then…misgivings arise and almost thwart true love forever…almost…until good friend Simon arrives to sort of save the day. At times Nick baffled me. I know he had suffered much but for a smart man he seemed somewhat not-so-smart…or fearful…or…something. Violet seemed to lack the fire to pursue what she really wanted and a bit too accepting of fate. The fact that they found a HEA was satisfying not only to them but to me, too ;) I am eager to find out what Simon tells Diana and how the two of them manage their HEA and as their story is up next…hope to find out soon! Thank you to the author who provided me an ARC of this book via NetGalley – This is my honest review. 4 Stars

    Dealing With The Past

One tragedy after another has made Nicholas Bateman the Duke if Kilve, or as the ton refer to him "Duke of Ice". He has buried all his emotions as a way to protect himself. After years alone his best friend manages to talk him into attending a house party. Widowed Lady Violet Pendleton had a very unhappy marriage, but is now getting on with her life. Both of our main characters have had more than their fair share of loss and heartache. Can they face up to the history they share and put the past where it belongs or have they come too far? A story that covers the full range of emotions, from laughter to tears. Great characters that you can´t help but fall in love with This is part of a series but easily read as a stand alone. It also teases us with a taste of the next character's story. I can't wait to read it.

Short and sweet review - The jewel in the crown of this series. Love the characters, love the romance, couldn’t stop reading it until I was finished. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
