    4.5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this holiday novella by Miss Lane. The opening scenes with Pierce struggling to adjust following a severe vehicle accident immediately caught my attention. I was further intrigued when Hal pushed himself into Pierce’s physical recovery. I like stories where characters face a crossroads and Regret Me Not promised to be just that. There was a considerable amount of depth to both characters and I enjoyed getting to know them and watching both grow over the course of the book. Those positives aside, my favorite aspect of this book was the characters’ palpable chemistry. It wasn’t simply a physical attraction that morphed into more, but a true emotional connection that came through to the reader. I love seeing the feelings develop on page, and that’s precisely what Regret Me Not offered. I highlighted up a storm, enjoying the sweet and insightful sentiments as Hal and Pierce tried to make sense of their feelings while deciding on their own future plans. Not only does this couple have to contend with an expiration date on their time together, but there’s also an age gap which added an extra layer to their relationship and fueled insecurities. Although I really loved this book, the only thing that kept Regret Me Not from earning that fifth star was the second half’s pacing. The tempo drug a little as the Hal and Pierce skirted talking about their feelings. Additionally, the couple’s originally cute metaphors for each other being “a unicorn” started to feel overused. That combined with the avoidance of discussing the future made it feel a little like we were spinning our wheels for a while. However, the ending picked back up and I really liked the resolution. Regret Me Not is a heartwarming holiday novella that included plenty of sweet moments, fun dialogue, and great characters, leaving me incredibly happy. Following the epilogue, Miss Lane promises more adventures with these two will play out on her blog. Frankly, I can’t wait. *Reviewed for Alpha Book Club*
