    Let the good times roll

Meyer once again delivers a stunning story in her second addition to the Lunar Chronicles. While I will admit I was not as memorized by the main character, Scarlet as I was by Cinder from the first book, I still loved the turns the plot of the story took and world that Meyer created. I also really enjoyed how the author linked the original Red Riding Hood story to her own creation. The connections were a bit more subtle this time around but that only served to increase their impact once they presented themselves. I loved watching the beginning stages of Cinder comes to terms with her identity and "gifts". I can't wait to see what can only be a breakout transformation in the next installment. Like I said I wasn't a big fan of Scarlet's character; she was one dimensional, one-tracked and frankly a bit of a brat. A Hadassah brat, but a brat none the less. I found that Wolf, more than she, had more to offer as a character to the story. Even Kai had more character development than her and he was barely in the book at all. The introduction of Thorne is a nice addition to the group and I hope he plays a stronger role in the next book. Overall the story was once again captivating and addicting. And save for Scarlet I was met with my favorite characters and some new ones too. I am so ready for the next book!

    Better Than The First

With a continued epic story line of Cinder, and the added characters in Scarlet; it really makes a spicy story. I had my doubts before, but the author carried out the story very well. I can't wait for more. I'm already devoted to buying the series.

Can't Wait To Read The Whole Series!

Wow - I really do love this series. Scarlet doesn't fail. Sometimes there is that second book that just seems to function as a boring, information filler with not a lot of new characters or furthering of plot and you just have to get through it. Not this one! This book could stand alone. I loved the addition of Scarlet (yet another strong female character) and Wolf. Scarlet is a 16 year old girl who lives on a farm with her grandmother. She has the requisite farm chores and is responsible for delivering fruit and vegetables to the local restaurants. Although her grandmother has been missing for two weeks, the police have decided to close the case chalking it up to a crazy old woman who decided to leave one day and not tell anyone. Scarlet is determined to find out what has happened to grandmother because she knows deep in her heart that her grandmother would never just wander off and leave Scarlet alone. Scarlet meets Wolf, a strange man who is more animal like than human. He doesn't even know what a tomato is! Meanwhile, Cinder has her own set of problems. She escapes out of the prison Prince Kai (now Emperor Kai) held her in until she could be handed over to Queen Levana. She picks up another convict who helps her escape and Captain Carswell Thorne becomes a breath of fresh air adding a little comic relief as a character. Of course the two story lines eventually intersect and we are taken on a very satisfying ride to the end. Of course there are some issues with the book. For one, the transitions between the story lines of Scarlet and Cinder are rough and not always well though out. I loved the glimpse of humour we got from Thorne but I was starving for more. Hopefully the next book will have even more. That being said nothing detracts from the overall enjoyment of the book.
