    Someone Knows

Very diappointing. Having read almost all her books, it's a given I buy every new release. This one dragged on till I wanted it to end.

    dramatic thriller

I started this book on the first day of Spring Break. I finished this book on the first day of Spring Break. I could not put it down. I tried, I set it down and walked away, only to come right back knowing that I needed to know what was going to happen next. Lisa Scottoline is amazing at writing novels that could happen. The teenagers in this story are so different from each other, they all have their own real-life struggles, yet they form a friendship of sorts that puts them in a situation forcing them to keep a secret for the rest of their lives. The teenagers all have families, each family has its own dynamic, and each family has its own issues. As teenagers, you pretend all is good in life while trying to find your way without seeming odd to your peers. These teenagers have their families to deal with along with the biggest, darkest secret ever. Their friendships come to an end, their lives as they know it changes, and nothing is ever okay for these 4 teenagers. As teenagers, I felt sorry for what they were going through. As adults, I was in awe that they had been able to keep their secret for so long. It was hard to see them struggle, it was painful to watch them come back together, and it was scary when I realized what was happening to them. Pick up Lisa Scottoline’s Someone Knows. It is a dramatic thriller with real friendships and a story that will stay with you.

    Lots of secrets . . .

As a young teenager Allie Garvey and some high school classmates were involved in a prank gone wrong which ended in the death of another teen. For twenty years Allie has been haunted by this event. When one of the teens, now an adult, involved dies, an apparent suicide, Allie returns home for his funeral. Seeing two of the others involved twenty years earlier at the funeral causes her to relive the trauma, which in fact has negatively affected her life since the incident. Then Sasha, one of those involved, is found dead in what is suspected to be a suicide. To this point the book is a fairly good suspenseful tale. What happens from this point are a bit "over the top", and the final revelations concerning the horrid night twenty years earlier are, in my opinion, not credible.

    Another great story from Scottoline

Lisa Scottoline is the author I always, always, always preorder and her latest novel Someone Knows once again demonstrates why. Scottoline has the ability to draw you completely into the story and to experience a full range of emotions. And she is spot on with her portrayal of the characters. Those teenagers felt so true. Reading Someone Knows I felt as if I was back in high school. The story opens with Allie Garvey returning to the upscale Philadelphia suburb she grew up in for the funeral of a former classmate. A classmate that she shared a horrible experience and secret with, along with three other students, twenty years ago. Allie was an outsider then and she is an outsider now. She’s never gotten over the guilt about what happened and it’s affected every aspect of her life. When she reconnects with the last two remaining students, she sees the mean kids are now the mean adults. Are we already who we are going to be as adults by the time we are teenagers? You know from the start that five kids went into the woods and four came out, so as each character is introduced you wonder if that’s the one. Every time they go into the woods you wonder if that’s the time. The suspense just keeps building. After the funeral Allie is determined to find out what really happened once and for all. But it’s not as simple as that. There was so much more going on then, and now, than anybody realized. She and others are in real danger. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Each answer came with another question. As the action ramped up the chapters got shorter and shorter. I wanted to know what happened but at the same time was almost afraid to find out. And the ending – wow! I thought I was at the end more than once because the story had come to a very satisfactory conclusion. But Scottoline wasn’t done yet, and off we went again. I did not see the ending coming but it worked perfectly. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this latest Lisa Scottoline book, highly recommend it and can’t wait for the next one. I purchased my copy of Someone Knows and all opinions are my own.
