  • The rare five star book

It concerns me that Olivia Dade may have inhabited my body Quantum Leap style at some point because everything about April rings true to my own life. Except, unfortunately, the finding true love with my celebrity crush; I had to settle for an adorable non-celebrity instead. There is genius in the way she weaves the worlds of fanfic, a love of tv epics, fan conventions, the friendships you develop online and the way most celebrities are just lovely people when you meet them. (And the good ones never smell of fish!). I am about to do another thing I rarely do, i.e. order a hardcopy version to supplement my ebook just to be able to stare at the cover. I cannot recommend this enough, it’s glorious.

  • Great but a mite long

writers, television, contemporary-romance, dyslexia, body-shaming***** The hunky TV star is dyslexic but had overcome it and writes excellent fanfiction. The pretty and plus sized geologist also writes fanfiction and cosplays and she adores the actor from afar yet is unaware that he is the writer she exchanges beta reads with. They develop a great relationship online but hide from each other until they can't. And then it really gets even more interesting! I thought it was great even if a mite long. I requested and received a free ebook copy from HarperCollins Publishers/Avon via NetGalley. Thank you!

  • Body positive, adorable.

This book was adorable. As a former fanfic writer (who would have been delighted to meet and fall in love with David Boreanez at the time) and someone who has struggled with weight issues AND who loves smart women, well, this book basically had my name all over it. If only I like Game of Thrones, this might be my ideal book. The characterization was fab, the writing was good, the sex HOT. Really hot. For some reason, the Interstitial's just didn't work for me. I really didn't care about all the awful roles Marcus took before getting on GoT-light, and I didn't see how those gave us any insight into his character. I wound up skipping most of them. Wish I'd skipped the epilogue, too. But I'm already recommending it to all of my friends. *Review based on ARC*

  • Fantastic portrayal of love and fic

I adored this book! The author really understood the world of fanfic from the tagging conventions on stories to the bonds built between writers who only know each other by pseudonym. The two main characters had realistic wounds and weaknesses as well as strengths. The story didn’t rely on silly miscommunications to create conflict—the characters were motivated to solve their problems and behaved as though they cared for each other. Five enthusiastic stars!!!

  • So Swoonworthy!

This was lovely! It tackled real issues while remaining authentic feeling and not at all preachy. It included fanfic (fun), body positivity with the occasional moment of self-consciousness from past treatment, dyslexia, and secret identities done really well! I love a “turns out I was this person online all along” story, but sometimes the lack of honesty gets cringey. Here it made sense, was emotional, and wasn’t glossed over. Can’t wait for the next one!
