  • Good Sequel

Welcome to the second, highly anticipated book in The Royal We series! Keep in mind, you need to have read the first book (The Royal We) prior to starting The Heir Affair. This is the continuation of Rebecca (Bex) and Nicholas' (Nick) story + their gang of friends and family. It is interesting to think about the world today compared to the world that existed when the authors wrote the first installment of the series. In the world today, we really do have a prince who married an American and "ran away," if you will, from the throne. Granted in the book, one prince marries an American while the other prince runs away. Overall, I enjoyed this book! I rarely ever enjoy a sequel more than the first book, which still holds true in this case. However, I was really hoping to read more about Freddie's journey in this one or, in an unpopular opinion I'm sure, see Bex leave Nick for Freddie. I shipped Bex and Nick for the first half of The Royal We, but I just felt the chemistry more between Bex and Freddie in the last half and in all of The Heir Affair. My heart broke for Freddie in this one. I was expecting this one to be just as "light" of a read as The Royal We, but be warned that this book discusses miscarriage, infertility and references infidelity. Thank you to the publisher for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
