  • Moving, mysterious, and absorbing!

Truths I Never Told You is an engaging, affecting story that immerses you into the lives of the Walsh family as they struggle to come to grips with an ailing father, a family home filled with nostalgia and secrets, a sister grappling with postpartum depression, and the real truth behind the life and loss of their mother Grace when they were children. The writing is smooth and emotive. The characters are genuine, supportive, and multilayered. And the plot, including all the subplots, intertwine and unravel into a hopeful tale about life, loss, family, parenthood, mental illness, secrets, deception, introspection, forgiveness, and love. Overall, Truths I Never Told You is a heartbreaking, touching, enlightening tale by Rimmer that reminds us life is too short for grievances, resentments, and regrets, and psychological disorders are very real concerns that should never be left untreated.

  • A contrast of decades

Set in the Seattle area, "Truths I Never Told You" is about the Walsh family. Alternating between 1958 and 1996, the book describes the lives of Patrick and Grace Walsh and their four young children. The family lives in public housing and just scrapes by with Patrick working in construction. And then Grace disappears . . . In 1996 the now grown adult Walsh children are dealing with their father's dementia and poor health. Patrick eventually became a successful builder, had his own company and was living in a large home. With Patrick moved to a nursing facility, youngest child Beth takes it upon herself to clear out the family home. What she finds is a shock to her and to her siblings. The author has done an excellent job describing how women's lives were restricted during the 1950's, a situation which had negative consequences for Grace Walsh. An absorbing story.

  • Truths I Never Told You

This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. It kept me spellbound from beginning to end. Kelly Rimmer has become my favourite author. If you haven’t read her 2 previous books, it’s a must.

  • Family mystery

Truths I Never Told you is many things: a heart wrenching story, a mystery , family relationships, things we say and things we never say to our family or others. The story is told in two time lines with multiple viewpoints . The confusion starts when Beth finds a note her mom wrote years ago. There Dad is now in declining health and cant answer their questions how their Mom died. Or when !! There is so much to this book . I wont do it justice by describing it you just have to pick up this book and read it. Very thought provoking. Kelly Rimmer draws you in from the first page and keeps you hooked.
