    Do The Work!

One of the things I love best about this book is that it doesn't make false promises. Instead, the authors repeat (because it bears repeating) the fact that making a living off of writing, and, in particular self-publishing is a LOT of work, a lot of hard work. And that it takes time. And patience. And that, as illustrated through the authors' own examples, the volume and unit sales required to sustain a living only come with a larger catalog of titles. The book beautifully summarizes and captures the spirit of the Self-Publishing Podcast, but puts it into a more focused format (much more tightly focused, if you're at all familiar with the rabbit-holes they often wander down during their podcast discussions, you'll know exactly what I mean), providing a book that I think every author considering the realm of self-publishing would be well-advised to read.

Excellent Advice for Any Indie Writer

I thought this book really laid out a profitable plan for self-published authors. They didn't sugar-coat anything, but they also didn't make it seem impossible to make full-time income as an indie author. It was interesting to read, not only because the topic was interesting to me, but also because the writers really know their craft. They wrote it as if they were talking to somebody over coffee. It wasn't lecture-speech in text format. I could write more right now about it, but really, I'm tired. Honestly, though, if you are curious about what it takes to make writing a full-time job with full-time pay, this is a must-read. It is definitely worth your time. Back! And less tired now. This book breaks down different steps you should take as a writer to become profitable. It also gives you the reasons why they recommend those ideas. To me, this is an invaluable addition. If I know why something is promoted over something else, I am much more likely to do it. It helps me understand the process, which is important if you are going to really master something. I like to master things, so there you go. Another part of this book that I like, though it is not the "meat and potatoes" of the book, is the different little throw-aways they add. For example, they mention the author Chuck Wendig. I didn't know who this was until I read about him in this book. I checked out the guy's blog (now I know he's an awesome writer), and my mind is blown. Seriously, though the language is a bit much sometimes, it's one of the most helpful blogs I've ever read. There are lots of little mentions like that in Write. Publish. Repeat. that just add so much to somebody who is just starting to consider writing as a career like I am. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what it takes to make writing a full-time career. You really won't regret it.

    Fantastic resource!

This is one of the best books I've read on indie publishing. I was already doing a lot of what they say to do, but that's because I have a background in marketing and working online. I'm going to recommend it to all my writer friends.

    Fantastic

A lot of great advice that I am eager to put in to paractice, watch this space! (well not this space exactly, obviously!) All joking aside, (I haven't finished my first draft yet), this book is full of good practical advice for both the new and seasoned indie author, which obviously works as Sean, Johnny, and Dave are all very successful authors and their success is from trial, error, and formulating a plan that works. I am very happy that they have shared what they have learned with us and fully appreciate the time and effort that they have put in to this and their other works of art. (Read Unicorn Western, it's awesome!)

    Time to Write!

Fantastic and honest, this book is one every writer thinking of getting rid of the traditional gatekeepers to publishing should have. No more excuses, no more sensations that something is not being told to you. You have to work, think, publish and start again (all whilst hoping a unicorn called Edward will pop any bubbles of thought still remaining that aren't suited to the career writer). It's time to get serious if you are not already!
