    Excellent

This one started slow for me and I almost gave up on it. Man am I glad I stuck with it! The core of the story is online dating and the little lies that are weaved into conversations on those sites. What happens when you come face to face with the person on the other end and they realize you aren't exactly what you said you were. That's how Joe and Alex's story begins and it just gets better! The writing style of this author is great and her characters are very well developed. If you find it slow starting, just give it time. The story is well worth the wait. This is one I highly recommend.

4.5 stars- fun, flirty, and switch ups to the norm

Twist is a great follow-up to Dirty, but can certainly be read as a standalone. Once again, Miss Scott delivers likable, real characters with Joe and Alex. The writing flows and the pacing is steady throughout, but it’s written in a light-hearted, causal manner that makes for a fast read. Of course, there’s a large dose of humor and fantastic dialogue that brings the story to life and left me smiling throughout the book. I found the characters and their relationship a bit atypical for contemporary m/f romances and those details really made Twist really stand out. The couple connects somewhat accidentally via a dating site, but their physical distance makes them more online pen pals at the start. Having an established relationship prior to meeting allowed their romance to move along quickly without it feeling unbelievable or relying on instalove. Joe and Alex had good chemistry from the outset, and there were definitely some steamy scenes throughout Twist. However, there wasn’t an immediate physical lust fueling this pairing and that made it different to see play out. I found it actually validated their relationship early on. In another departure from the stereotypical romance hero and heroine, both Joe and Alex have quieter dispositions. They are happy to keep to themselves or fade into the background around those more boisterous personalities. Although having one subdued character isn’t uncommon, in my experience it’s less likely to see two. This created an interesting and new dynamic for me as an avid romance reader. I enjoyed how they lit each other up. That spark came through very clearly to the reader and showcased their feelings well. I also liked that Alex owned her sexual experiences. She wasn’t promiscuous by any stretch, but she also wasn’t waiting for true love to sweep her away. It’s always nice when a heroine isn’t the stereotypical inexperienced partner in a relationship. When added to her and Joe’s other character attributes, as well as aspects of their relationship, Twist really stood out among the sea of contemporary romances. I think fans of Dive Bar or Stage Dive will be happy with this newest installment. Not only does it deliver the type of romance I’ve come to expect from this author, but it stepped away from the norms a bit. With Nell and Pat’s subplot getting a good chunk of time and resolution, some cameos from Stage Dive favorites, and a check-in with Vaughan and Lydia from Dirty, Twist had all the ingredients to make this an enjoyable and easy read. The book ends with just enough insight into another side of Eric, leaving me eager to see what the final novel in the series will bring to the table. *Reviewed via Netgalley for Alpha Book Club*

    Fun & Sexy Read

This was a real fun and sexy read from get go. I've been waiting to get my hands on this book for a while now and once it showed up on my kobo e-reader I just couldn't put it down. It had me smiling, chuckling, even laughing out loud at points. There were sad parts too in it and I may have shed a tear or two over those parts. The writing was so good that I was able to feel the characters pain along side them.

    Contemporary Romance

Twist by Kylie Scott Dive Bar #2 I have had pen pals in the past when paper and pen were used then later as email buddies. I can honestly say that meeting most of them was even better than expected - but one time it definitely was not. Why? No warning of the visit and the person was not as had been described in the letters. What does my remembering this event have to do with “Twist”? Well, the story told in “Twist” reminded me of my past and made me think and feel and care a bit more about the characters I was reading about. It also made me wonder, “What if the guy who showed up on my door had been more like Joe?” – not that Joe showed up at Alex’s door…but still… Alex had expectations when she showed up to meet Eric at the Dive Bar. She had hopes that their messaging over past months might prove the basis for more and since it was one of the only times she had been willing to try for more it was a BIG deal the way he responded to her appearance at the bar. Eric was surprised, Alex was surprised and so was Joe, the instigator of the mix-up. Turning on her heel to leave should have been the end of the debacle but instead the flu found Alex and Joe stepped in to nurse her back to health. With time their ally they found their way back to the online friendship that they both so enjoyed. With a few twists and turns, ups and downs, interesting moments and some sad ones, too, the couple move forward toward a HEA that they both deserve. You have no doubt heard of the quiet man, the gentle giant, that still waters run deep – well, Joe was the epitome of all of these sayings and more. I think he might be one of my favorite book boyfriends so far. Alex is a bit harder to pigeonhole. She’s smart, independent, and hardworking; she has a sense of humor, knows what she wants and needs both in and outside of the bedroom. She has one close friend but otherwise she seems unwilling to commit to a relationship and fears emotional entanglements. I enjoyed the telling of this story, catching up with characters from the previous book and am eager to find out who will star in book three of the series. Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Griffin – This is my honest review. 4.5 Stars

Funny, sweet, and sexy book, with a dash of drama!

Alex and Eric have been talking online for a few months. Although they live in different states, they're very close and share almost everything with each other. When Eric's birthday approaches, Alex decides to surprise him and finally visit and meet him in person. But what she doesn't expect is finding out that she's not been talking with Eric, but with Joe, Eric's brother. Feeling humiliated and embarrassed, she leaves. Unexpectedly, she's forced to stay in Coeur d'Alene and be around Joe. They soon start to get to know each other as Alex and Joe. But will she forgive and forget what he did? I loved Twist! The story is funny, sweet, and sexy, with a dash of drama. I laughed, cried, and screamed with the characters. Twist hooked me from the first page and I couldn't stop reading. I loved the banter between Alex and Joe and how their relationship developed, even though it all started with Joe's lie. I also loved Nell and Patrick's story and the past online conversations between Alex and Joe. Alex is a sweet and smart young woman. She's very independent and knows what she wants in a man. That's until she meets Joe. She's been hurt in the past and hates liars, so Joe's lie really messes with her. Joe is a very intense man, but also very sweet. He does everything to help his loved ones, even when he should say no. When he saw Alex picture online and her message, he liked her and decided to write back as his brother. Kylie Scott gives us an amazing story with awesome characters. Her writing style is perfect and she can easily makes us connect with the characters, making us feel what they’re feeling and cheer for them. I can't wait to read Eric's book!
