Microbe

Not great
An odd combination of enjoyable science and literary incompetence. While the scientific jargon is up to scratch, this book is littered with shallow, two-dimensional characters, a laughably thin plot, and more clichés than I care to count. The story never really changes in pace or tone, except for the end of each chapter, which almost always ends in an italicised cliffhanger. The language itself is pretty bad. While I can usually forgive a sci-fi thriller for stilted prose, Microbe's seems not only juvenile, but poorly edited. Quotation marks are dropped, sentences repeated, and even the point-of-view switches from third- to first-person without warning. Basic grammar, punctuation and syntax really are inexcusable omissions. I enjoy the odd bit of cheap thriller, but I would recommend this author take some writing classes before penning their next work.由 J. on 三月 22, 2014 -

Good story

Just plain bad
