  • Good yarn

Galerie is an absorbing book. The writing is mostly well done, which is why it is so shocking to come across the occasional use of bad grammar that hits the reader like a bucket of cold water thrown in one’s face. The author says that he is a professional writer, and he thanks his editors for their grammatical acumen. Why, then, do we see “who’s” when “whose” should be used? “From whence” is redundant, since “whence” means “from which place.” And then there are “different than” instead of “different from,” “discrete” instead of “discreet,” and “had dove” instead of “had dived.” I find this offensive.

I have always been interested in anything to do with WW ll.This was a very intense read. I have had a great deal of respect for the writerand his cander. Great history.A must read for anyone who wants to know about a different kind of reality connected with that era.
