A short, sweet story set in outer space

I've just discovered Ofelia Grand's work and I like a lot her writing style: her words flow seamlessly and are able to suck you into the story from the very first lines. The story is set in outer space and is a mix of romance and alien pirates: the main character, Max, is a human who owns a small restaurant on a space station, and is completely surrounded by aliens. Humans are, in fact, a very rare species in this universe, and Max is trying to survive among a lot of strange and sometimes terrifying species, like some pirates who like to visit his restaurant. What I liked most about this story are the characters; in just a few words you can't help but like Max, Quam, the aline helping him with security at the restaurant, and Noir, the pirate who starts showing an interest in Max. They are just genuine, funny and endearing. The only criticism I have about the book (beside the fact that I would have liked for it to be longer ;)) is that Max gets over his fear about Noir being a pirate a bit too quickly to be believable: Max is honestly terrified by the pirates and with good reason, and I believe the story should have been a bit longer to show better how he could go over that. But this is a flaw that is easily overlooked by all the good and fun parts. I honestly hope we will get to read a sequel, maybe with more parts about Quam!
