A fun, lighthearted, second chance at romance

This was my first 1950s era read. A novella that focuses on the relationship between a former Korean War nurse, now widowed, and a war vet who re enters her life after breaking her heart in High School. I loved the fact that the heroine, Ginny, wants to have a career in nursing. Usually, the theme in that time period was to get married, look good, and have children. But, instead, we have a take charge woman who wants to make a name for herself and has the "I don't need a man" mentality, which I admired. However, as Ginny is self assured when it comes to her career, it's her unwillingness to trust and let love in again, the thing that she must overcome. Jett re enters her life to guide her to that path of happiness. He does everything in his power to break her out of her shell and tear down her defenses. It isn't easy for Ginny, but she gives Jett a chance and that chance turns into a hot and steamy night together. She gives in to her attraction but thinks it is a one night stand. However, one night of passion isn't enough for Jett and does not give up in his pursuit. This was a fun, lighthearted, second chance romance, with not a lot of conflict. It shows the character's path to growth and the love that can happen when barriers are lifted.
