    Awesome

I love these guys and you will too, if you don’t already! If you haven’t read the original Invasion series, don’t worry, you don’t need to. This book is set at the same time as the original seven but from completely different characters points of view. It’s a great story and well written as is expected from Johnny and Sean. The characters are well rounded and believable and pull you along for the ride with them. It’s an unputdownable thrill ride that will have you grabbing for the next in the series. What will happen next? Will the Aliens win or will the humans defeat the incoming ETs? If you want to know you will have to read the books. There are three in this ‘Save the Humans’ series and I for one cannot wait to read the next one ‘Save the Girl’, in fact I think I will go and start it now! Read the books they are fantastic and you won’t be disappointed!

    Fun and fast paced

I'm no stranger to these authors or their story studio having enjoyed many of their books previously & across several genres. However, 'Save the city’ is my first introduction to the Invasion universe as I haven't read the original series (I was reading other things at the time and never got back to it). I found it hard initially to get into the book and care about the characters and their motivations. Perhaps a combination of initial fast pace and anticipated reader knowledge of the universe caused me to feel a little left behind. As the story progressed and hit its stride I predictably found myself pulled in. While I'm not entirely convinced Mia and Hollis were integral to the city's final outcome, l enjoyed the roles they played and the character development it allowed. Given that this is the first in a series the ending style and content were expected but not disliked and I look forward to reading what's in store for Mia and Hollis in 'Save the Girl’. I received an ARC from the authors in exchange for an honest review of this book.

The Invasion Universe is back baaybeee!

This book is the first foray back into The Invasion Universe since the original series was released a few years back. I have read the original series and it is not necessary to have read that to get into this book. While this Universe is about an Alien Invasion, the books deal more with humanity's triumphs and failures in responding to this crisis. From the opening pages of this book, I was hooked. From the moment the mysterious case is stolen the action is non-stop. The getaway sequence is so well written that I could literally see the action in my head. The interplay between Mia and Hollis felt like an evenly matched boxing match. Each one gaining an advantage over the other only to lose it before regaining the upper hand. The authors do a great job at developing the Mia/Hollis relationship. At some points during the first half of the book, I was hoping they would kill each other and at other points just start making out already. I found myself deeply invested in these characters and their relationship. Don't get me wrong, this book is far from a love story. The mysterious case added another dimension to the book which I liked. The anticipation in finding out what was in the case and how its contents could be so valuable was exhilarating. Enough detail was given that I wanted to keep flipping the pages, but not enough information given to spoil the suspense. The final scene was a bit cheesy in my opinion, but having only read the first book in the Save the Humans trilogy, I'll hold off on my final judgement of that scene. It did set up the sequence of events that lead into book two, Save the Girl. The cliff hanger at the end of the book could have been more dramatic, but it really fit in with the behaviour of the supporting cast of characters. It served it's purpose though as i want to find out what happens next. Overall a great read! Great characters, great premise and enough mystery to keep me hooked. Can't wait to read the next book in the series, Save the Girl.
