  • Enjoyable

4 Star Review of Big Stick (Aces Hockey #7) by Kelly Jamieson This is book 7 in the Aces hockey series and can be read as a standalone. Kelly Jamieson has done a great job with this series and this is Nick Balachov and Jodie’s story. When Jodie moves to Chicago she and her daughter need a place to stay, which is where Nick enters the picture when he lets them stay in his Coach house. All Nick wants to do is concentrate on hockey and have an occasional hook up. The last thing he wants is to be seriously attracted to any woman, least of all single mum Jodie and her gorgeous 2 year old daughter Zyana. Nick has had a hard life with means he has closed himself off to those around him whilst Jodie is his opposite and seizes the moment. Initially they clash but as circumstance and fate continue to bring them together they slowly ease into a friendship with potential for so much more. The chemistry between them is intense and Nick’s affection and behaviour towards Zyana is heart warming. I really loved that Jodie knew what or who she wanted and wasn’t afraid to move forward, her protectiveness towards her daughter was inspiring. The writing was strong and kept my attention and there were plenty of hot and passionate scenes.

  • Loved it!

Loved this one. Big broody hockey player - check. Adorable little girl with a sexy mom - double check! A fantastic recipe for a fun story that has the heart of Nick Balachov lost to the little girl and her mom Jodie because no matter how hard he tries to resist them Nick just can't stay away. Wonderfully written and these characters are amazing. The story will definitely leave you smiling. I highly recommend.

  • Enjoyed!

Another fallen hockey hunk! This time we get Nick and Jodie's story. We got introduced to Jodie and her daughter in book 5 when her best friend and business partner, Kendra fell in love with Max. I'm such a sucker for little kids in romance books that I was hoping for their story. It did not disappoint. I loved Zyana, she was so stinking cute. And there is nothing hotter than a guy with kids. 💕 They had a rocky road ahead of them. Nick has isolated himself and Jodie has already resigned to not finding a forever guy. Despite the obstacles in their path, I enjoyed their journey. There is hints of the next book and I gotta say, it sounds like we will be getting a hero that is ready to settle down. That makes me excited. I love a hero that goes after what he wants. ARC provided by NetGalley.

  • Sexy, feel good story

This is the seventh book in the Aces Hockey series and I have enjoyed reading all of the books in this delightful series. Each story is a standalone but the all the characters are entertaining and interconnected. This engaging, sexy, feel good story revolves around Nick, a hockey player who doesn’t think he deserves love. I liked this charming story and the connection between Nick and Jodie. Nick and Jodie are brought together when Nick reluctantly agrees to let Jodie and her two year old daughter stay in his coach house. At first they are wary of each other but their feelings for each other grow as they spend time together. Nick is a grouchy, standoffish loner and he doesn’t care that people think he is a jerk. He doesn’t have any experience with relationships and he has no interest in getting involved in one. However, Nick has never met anyone like Jodie. Jodie is a breath of fresh air and helps Nick look at his life differently. I felt bad for Nick because he is dealing with a lot of issues. Jodie is open, honest and doesn’t play games. She is outgoing and fun and works hard to be a good mom. She is also a part owner of sex toy company. Jodie is strong but also finds it a struggle being a single mom and owning her own business. When she meets Nick she is attracted to him but also finds his attitude frustrating. I found it easy to connect with Nick and Jodie and I liked them. Life hasn’t been easy for either one of them and they have different reasons for being hesitant to start a relationship. Even though they are different, they compliment each other. Jodie is friendly and loving, whereas Nick is closed off and afraid to show his feelings. There is a spark between them they can’t ignore. Hopefully, they can help each other become better people and enjoy life.

  • Favorite Aces Novel to date!

4.5 Favorite Aces novel to date! I absolutely adored this romance between Nick and Jodie. There were twists and turns with bumps and bruises, but I saw each character grow in their own way, some more than others, and it was a beautiful thing. This book kept me entertained from page one. My heart broke for Nick’s situation and it felt very personal, like I was the one living it. The emotion in this book was fantastic. It had moments that were predictable, and some where I had to go back and reread because I thought I misunderstood something, but overall, this book has definitely been my favorite Aces Novel and I highly recommend it.
