作者簡介亞歷山大・威廉・金萊克於1809年出生於英格蘭索默塞特郡湯頓附近，先後就讀伊頓公學與劍橋大學三一學院，1832年取得學士學位，1837年取得律師資格。1834至1835年間，他與友人前往鄂圖曼帝國統治下的巴爾幹、君士坦丁堡、小亞細亞、賽普勒斯、敘利亞、巴勒斯坦與埃及旅行，返國後把旅途見聞反覆改寫成《東方歸痕》。本書曾遭數家出版社拒絕，最後於1844年由倫敦約翰・奧利維爾出版社匿名出版，上市後立即成功，次年已印行三個版本。當時英國交通日益發達，識字人口增加，關於地中海東岸、鄂圖曼帝國與聖地的旅行書擁有廣大市場。金萊克後來曾赴克里米亞戰場，並於1857年至1868年間擔任國會議員；其八卷本《克里米亞戰爭入侵史》於1863年至1887年間陸續出版。他於1891年去世。前言《東方歸痕》不是一本按日記錄路程、列舉古蹟與地方物產的標準旅行指南。金萊克在原序中表示，他無意完整教授讀者東方的政治 ... 作者簡介亞歷山大・威廉・金萊克於1809年出生於英格蘭索默塞特郡湯頓附近，先後就讀伊頓公學與劍橋大學三一學院，1832年取得學士學位，1837年取得律師資格。1834至1835年間，他與友人前往鄂圖曼帝國統治下的巴爾幹、君士坦丁堡、小亞細亞、賽普勒斯、敘利亞、巴勒斯坦與埃及旅行，返國後把旅途見聞反覆改寫成《東方歸痕》。本書曾遭數家出版社拒絕，最後於1844年由倫敦約翰・奧利維爾出版社匿名出版，上市後立即成功，次年已印行三個版本。當時英國交通日益發達，識字人口增加，關於地中海東岸、鄂圖曼帝國與聖地的旅行書擁有廣大市場。金萊克後來曾赴克里米亞戰場，並於1857年至1868年間擔任國會議員；其八卷本《克里米亞戰爭入侵史》於1863年至1887年間陸續出版。他於1891年去世。前言《東方歸痕》不是一本按日記錄路程、列舉古蹟與地方物產的標準旅行指南。金萊克在原序中表示，他無意完整教授讀者東方的政治
