  • Made me laugh and think about stuff

‘Help’ is a great read. It’s cleverly written, funny and provokes thought about self, life and meaningless things that might turn out to be very meaningful.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Are we allowed to be critical?

I actually quite like Simon Amstell's humour, but the problem is that he often comes across as quite nasty. So when we read in this book that he is all a bit mixed up, it's quite difficult to feel sympathetic. The book itself rambles from one episode of increasing self awareness to another. Unfortunately he never reaches the point of wondering whether he should throw the manuscript in the bin so we are left reading this incoherent stream of consciousness with the expectation that we might learn something. I didn't learn anything much except that Simon Amstel is gay and sometimes experiments with drugs, but.....what's the point, just buy it and make your own mind up.

    Thanks for your feedback!
