too slow, too much gaming and no romance

This was an ok book but i found it way to slow. Half way through and she was still "helping" him with his company and it seemed like all it talked about was his gaming company and gaming itself, not the romance book it claims to be. I'm not a gamer so maybe that's why i didn't like it but it shouldn't be called a romance book if there's none in it.

These two definitely PLAY well together!

I live finding authors that I haven't read yet! Piper Lawson is fabulous! Play was realistic, fun, steamy and written so well! Payton and Max have amazing chemistry...the steamy times are full of STEAM lol There's also tons of banter and humor which I love amongst characters. Successful woman and nerdy, gorgeous guy! Fun times! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ highly recommend!

Great New Series from a Beloved Author

Reasons why Piper Lawson is quickly becoming a new favorite author of mine: - Her characters are complicated, but not broken. - She resolves situations without throwing money at the problem. (Even if the male love interest IS a billionaire, she doesn't make the central issue at the story go away by him buying something.) - The chemistry between the two main characters is always positively sizzling. "Play" was such a fun read! I didn't really know how I'd feel about the whole set up, but I ended up liking the somewhat unusual backdrop. Max is a genius video game developer in desperate need of funding for his newest project. Payton is a newly promoted financial associate at the bank who loans him the money. Spoiler alert: there's a trip to Comic-Con that's both hilarious and hot. I loved how the relationship between the characters was developed and even though you could see their (HOT) collision coming from a 100 pages away, the journey there was really enjoyable. Max managed to be smart, sexy & arrogant, but also vulnerable and sincere. Payton is a girl who really holds her own. She's confident without being smug and I so appreciate a female character that isn't a doormat. My complaints about this book are minor. Payton's only real friend is her co-worker and if she's lonely, that isn't really addressed. It's clear that she's a workaholic, but still, it seemed like a bit of a hole in her background. Also, I hate the term "make love". Overall though, I really enjoyed this and I'm so looking forward to seeing what Lawson comes up with next.

    Fresh and SO fun

I read a lot of contemporary romance and this was a fresh twist! Great likeable characters and a slow burn plot. But when it heated up, it really heated up! Wow. Loved Payton and Max plus Charlie cracked me up. She is a beast.
