The three people in the car that pick him up on Interstate 84 are an unusual trio to put it mildly. The Driver is a crass, chain-smoking woman. Her male companion is a perfect match. Ups and downs in an unlikely relationship between an occasional Rhode Island thoroughbred horse trainer who is a full time barroom philosopher, and an unemployed waiter. The trainer's friends and acquaintances add to the appeal of this tale and the astonishment of the waiter.
