Roy Rowan, a US Army Major, was Life Magazine’s Assistant Managing Editor in charge of Life’s world-wide news coverage. At the very instant JFK was assassinated, Roy was having lunch with Henry Luce, Time’s Founder and Editor in Chief who instructed Roy to fly out to their Chicago printing plant, stop the presses and remake the Magazine. Roy went on to be a senior writer at Fortune where he wrote more than 65 major articles.
