  • Heartbreakingly beautiful

I had the privilege of workin on this book with Wondra Chang, prepublication. I cried the first time I read it. It is a beautifully heartbreaking story, set during a part of history we really don't know well, overshadowed as it was for Americans by WWII and the conflict in Viet Nam. It's a fascinating time for Korea as it not only saw that country divide, it saw South Korea take its first steps into modernity. The protagonist of this story, Yu Sonju becomes a way-shower, bravely leading the way for Korean women.

    Thanks for your feedback!
