This book investigates the relationship between information communication and community development in China in the new media age, drawing on theoretical resources from journalism, communication, urban sociology, community management, and the activities of social movements.Contrasting existing scholarship that centers on new technologies and virtual aspects of today’s communication, the study highlights community residents’ daily praxis in real social spaces and the interaction bet...

Traditional ways of thinking about the teachings of Jesus are often bound to one system of thought or another. Such ways of thinking are typically greater expressions of society's thinking (whether in the church or in the world) than what Jesus taught. Jesus is Not Safe concerns some such ways, ways that a thoughtful disciple of Jesus needs to challenge.

Timeless Ripples concerns becoming beautifully oneself. The fictitious and non-fictitious characters heard a saying of, spoke with, or encountered Jesus in some way--Roman soldiers, religious leaders, farmers, innkeepers, prisoners, prostitutes, disciples, the serpent, philosophers, Judas Iscariot, and many others. Some hate Jesus, some love him, some are ambivalent, some are mystified, some are atheists, some are fanatics, etc. The story of one character interacts with the stories of othe...

This book explores China’s low-carbon consumption in the context of residential behaviour, corporate practices and policy Implication. It first calculates the carbon and ecological footprints of residential consumption, including both direct and indirect emissions, before discussing Chinese residential behavioural aspects and determinants of electricity saving, low-carbon transportation, low-carbon product purchasing, and e-waste recycling. The authors then investigate the relationship bet...

Big data has been upgraded to our national strategy and has become a catalyst for national and local economic development. With the further promotion of big data and artificial intelligence (AI), the new business model needs to optimize and upgrade. The integration of the blockchain industry will fully implement the digital China strategy and promote the application of big data in China. This unique compendium gives a comprehensive understanding of the blockchain content through the path of...

Since 1980, the number of climate-related disasters has been greatly increased globally. Scientific consensus based on the IPCC fifth report suggested that global warming would bring more intense and frequent extreme climate events. These climate-related disasters hinder the achievement of sustainable economic growth and prosperity by disrupting supply chains, impeding production, destroying infrastructure, and necessitating high-cost rebuilding and recovery. To mitigate the climate extrem...

The main theme of this book is recent progress in structure-preserving algorithms for solving initial value problems of oscillatory differential equations arising in a variety of research areas, such as astronomy, theoretical physics, electronics, quantum mechanics and engineering. It systematically describes the latest advances in the development of structure-preserving integrators for oscillatory differential equations, such as structure-preserving exponential integrators, functionally f...

The idea of structure-preserving algorithms appeared in the 1980's. The new paradigm brought many innovative changes. The new paradigm wanted to identify the long-time behaviour of the solutions or the existence of conservation laws or some other qualitative feature of the dynamics. Another area that has kept growing in importance within Geometric Numerical Integration is the study of highly-oscillatory problems: problems where the solutions are periodic or quasiperiodic and have to be stu...

This book constitutes of the revised selected papers presented at the CCF 17th International Conference on Service Science, ICSS 2024, held in Hong Kong, China, in May 11–12, 2024.The 12 full papers and 2 short papers presented here were carefully reviewed and selected from 21 submissions. These papers have been categorized into the following sections: Cloud service and Edge service; Knowledge-inspired service; Trustworthy services & Service application.

Model Predictive Control (MPC) has advanced as a robust method for managing complex dynamic systems, surpassing traditional control strategies in performance and constraint handling. This book explores MPC theory and applications, focusing on robust MPC (RMPC) for systems with uncertainties. It examines three system types: networked systems, stochastic switching systems, and nonlinear hybrid systems. It addresses challenges in networked interventions, Markovian jump systems, and nonlinear ...
