在遙遠的中國東北有一條長達近二千公里的河流，它流過東北的心臟地區，就是有名的松花江。由長白山天池流入吉林省，它在我的家鄉附近與嫩江會合，再經過哈爾濱市，注入黑龍江後進入俄國。松花江夏季江畔風景迷人，沿岸土地肥沃，民風樸實。沿江有中國最大的水力發電廠，也是中國重工業大多聚集在東北的主要原因之一。我的父親母親就出生在松花江畔一個小村落，父親是白旗滿籍，母親姓魏，是漢人，據說是唐代名臣魏征的後人，從山東省蓬萊縣渡海來到東北，已經定居在吉林有數代之久了。我的故事從松花江開始，因為我的父母親是從松花江來的，他們給了我生命，使我能夠來寫這本書呈現給讀者。我是於中國對日抗戰（1937年七七事變）發起之前幾個月出生在北平的協和醫院。直到1946抗戰勝利之後，才以義民還鄉之名乘專車回到東北。以後之幾年，曾目睹國共在關外內戰的痕跡，書中說的都是自己親身的經歷，將會在第一篇講述給讀者。同時也會將我在台灣生長的經歷，由少年進入青年時所聞所見在第二篇中呈現給讀者。但是本書最重要的部分是由第三篇開始，從1962到今天，在異國他鄉下生活五十多年的經歷。包括...
