  • Emotional read

Jake has spent his life feeling guilty and lost over the death of his parents. His twin brother Lane has always picked up the pieces of his life. When Jake finds himself in jail on Christmas eve, he Is determined to fix this himself. Alyson Road was a public defender. Assigned to Jake she goes in on Christmas eve to question Jake. Jake finds himself drawn to the PD. They keep running into each other and Jake thinks it is a sign they are supposed to be together. This is the second book in the Crossroads series. The author suggests reading the first book for the full story. I haven't read the first one and except for a few things in the beginning I never felt lost. This is one of those emotional books that draw you in and make you cry, laugh and at times scream. Ally and Jake both have their issues. Ally being shy and having grown up poor she never sees herself as good enough. Much less for someone like Jake. He is rich successful and has women falling all over him. Jake doesn't see himself that way. All he sees is a broken guilt ridden man. being with Ally makes him feel as if he can have it all. When things take a turn towards danger, Jake needs to step up and become the man he thought he never would be. Ally needs to dig deep in herself and realize she can have the man and life she thought she would never have. I received and arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
